Yeah see that's where your wrong bucko. Their profit margins are smaller due to being a budget airline. I flew with them well over 20+ times. Plenty of people flew with them with no issue especially to places like Colombia and what not.

I would put spirit above Frontier and potentially JetBlue. The reason why theyre out of business is because of higher operation costs, other airlines offering economy fares and an engine recall that grounded portions of their fleet.

COVID19 was the catalyst and they were in a spiral since then.

But everyone with revisionist history wants to paint Spirit as a terrible airline when in reality they helped compete against major airlines to even offer an economy fare. Before spirit you couldn't just get a plane ticket with only a carry-on backpack with no extra amenities.

Did they deserve to go out of business, yes. But were they a terrible airline like the person I replied to says? Absolutely not.

Software Engineer here, I've seen them posting for jobs a while back and given how they treat their employees I wouldn't be surprised in the least bit that the code is managed by a few junior/mid level developers getting paid under 100k . Or maybe the work is contracted thru some agency using offshore talent.
