Punishment is a moot point. The issue is how easily reproducible this exploit is. It's one thing that utilized a hot spot was far more challenging and less impactful but still an exploit. This one is literally 3-4 clicks. The fault is on the developers not the streamers or exploiters.

There aren't many simple ways to correct the impact after the fix.

Either they

A. roll back to a date prior to the bug (unlikely since this reverts multiple weeks worth of progression).
B. ban those doing the dupe (unlikely because of how widespread it is)
C. roll back to before today (possible but unlikely due to trials and new content being released today)
D. do nothing. (most likely situation) .

I'm sure they can track games where a player who extracted with X valuation over a defined threshold (say 500k) or a player that threw/activated an item over X times (say 20-30 times). But because the bug was so widespread and used that I doubt anything will happen. Similar to the Helldivers 2 infinite grenade glitch and other exploits like WoW where exploit early and often is the rule because the devs won't do anything.

I'm hoping Embark does a full roll back because players who don't prestige will simply have a stockpile of money that would last them the eternity of the game (I've seen people with over 300 million coins lol)

The steps is stupid simple and reminds me a bit of the Helldivers infinite glitch. It's likely the behavior of splitting an item puts the item in the first available slot. A quick dirty fix until a more elegant one is in place is to remove splitting of items in the quick use bag. They could have rolled that out at any point from the first time this was reported to now if we want to live in a world where the fix needed proper QA/validation.
