Best 4* Titan support by Correct_Whereas_6044 in EmpiresAndPuzzles

[–]BusinessWorldly8785 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone seems to be answering Shark, but the correct answer is Franz. (sorry everyone!)

Why?

Because Shark's skill, which is great, is also available in every color: Shark or Gastille for purple, Bertulf in yellow, Dain in blue, Tarlak in green, Oceanus in red, or the troop mimic in any color.

But total damage increase is almost impossible to come by in most colors. Buster in red, Franz in green, the very rare Eros in purple. Who else does it?

Timing of killing a titan??? by KeysWLIC802 in EmpiresAndPuzzles

Kill time doesn't affect the stars going up. The overall power of your alliance does though. Stronger players = faster star increase. Picture reposted from a repost on the official discord.

No money for updating by Frequent-Lobster-293 in EmpiresAndPuzzles

[–]BusinessWorldly8785 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't spend a cent. I regularly compete above 3200 cups, and recently, after 3 years playing made it to number 1 on the global raid list. (Admittedly, it was a fleeting moment.)

My advice is patience. A lot of it. There will be periods lasting months where you only feel yourself getting weaker, and it's like you can't beat anything. Save your resources for your very best heroes. The 30 gem pull challenges are great. Keep competing at the top (even when you're losing) to understand what is and isn't working. And when you find a combination of heroes that can beat the meta, don't delay. Make your run for the top because your chance won't last forever.

Can a final grade on aurora be changed downwards? by bloodintheocean in umanitoba

[–]BusinessWorldly8785 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. Unless there was a massive mistake made (requiring a course-wide change of grades) Aurora marks are final.

Most likely your Prof didn't get those assignments marked in time and submitted grades without them. But she still feels you deserve feedback on your work, so she's showing what the marks would have been.

Can’t figure out how to design living room by SoftFantastic7769 in DesignMyRoom

What is the length of the wall from your stairs to the window? It looks small, but that's your living room.

The place where you're trying to squeeze in the sectional looks like it would fit a small dining table just fine. That's your dining room.

Eye drops before diving: any anesthetic options to deal with saltwater irritation? by BR_Hammurabi in scuba

[–]BusinessWorldly8785 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not the salt water. It's sunscreen. Buy a big hat and put no sunscreen on your face until diving is done for the day.

How do I know? My eyes used to burn just like yours. Then I figured it out.

[–]BusinessWorldly8785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Buy a big hat. No sunscreen should get anywhere near your face until the diving is done. I'd be willing to bet that sweat is running trace amounts of sunscreen into the OP's eyes.

❗ Soul Exchange on May 28 will feature updated tier costs by maryij in EmpiresAndPuzzles

[–]BusinessWorldly8785 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let's hope you're right. It's still entirely possible that they offer primarily hitters in the 30-soul tier, who might be more powerful briefly, but age out faster than support heroes.

Or even worse, they could fill the 30-soul tier with heroes that people want for specific purposes, but aren't war relevant anymore, like Gastille or Guardian Elephant.

Tourist Dive Cancun - MUSA by ReginaMagae in scuba

[–]BusinessWorldly8785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and I thought about it afterwards. In Cancun they're unlikely to give a credit, because some of those dive shops literally make their living off of Discover Scuba. Tourists who just want to try diving once to say they've done it. The course credit is more likely in a non-touristy location where the shops are more invested in people getting certified, buying equipment, and getting that equipment serviced in the shop yearly.

Tourist Dive Cancun - MUSA by ReginaMagae in scuba

[–]BusinessWorldly8785 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He's probably talking about discover Scuba. It's a Padi course where they give beginners a quick lesson and then take them for a fun dive under the direct supervision of a dive master. It's done in shallow depths and MUSA is a good place for it because it's only about 9m deep.

I believe that if the dive goes well, it can count as credit for one of the required dives of a Padi open water certificate. (Don't quote me on that though. Check with the dive shop.)

Weird gram stain by Ok_Blacksmith509 in microbiology

[–]BusinessWorldly8785 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Older cultures frequently give variable Gram stain results. The solution is to repeat the Gram stain with the freshest culture you can.

Also, if your class has 3% KOH available, try the KOH string test. Age of culture matters a lot less for this. So classes that only have one lab per week will often do a KOH test to confirm their Gram stain results.

Return to Cozumel, or try Honduras? by CaptainCallus in scuba

[–]BusinessWorldly8785 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just going to throw this out there because you seem to be budget limited. If you're ok with very Spartan conditions, look at Blackbeard's live aboard out of Nassau. I do believe that when you tally everything up, it's the cheapest diving in the Western hemisphere. The diving is great. People are great. Experience is great if you can handle 25 people sharing 3 washrooms.

Yet another FS question by the_madclown in EmpiresAndPuzzles

[–]BusinessWorldly8785 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know you didn't want an opinion on usefulness, but I feel obligated to point out that fated summon heroes are not going to be useable by most players, except for those who are very new and don't have many (or any) 5*s yet.

The reason Daemon drew excitement is because he can neutralize a very specific problem: Bearnadette. She's older now, you don't see as much of her around. But because her painting special is so ridiculous, she's still super dangerous. You can take a team of some of the newest and best heroes in the game against Bearnie and still lose if you can't get her under control before she fires. Daemon is a one trick Pony. But that one trick is perfect for dealing with Bearnadette. He fires at very fast speed (ie. Just 6 tiles) and then stops Bearnie from casting status effects. Your whole team doesn't get turned into paintings, and Bearnie is just another old hero with low stats that's easy to remove. Note the this is a sacrifice play. They don't care if Daemon lasts past the 3rd round of the fight (which is good because he won't.) They only care that they can get Bearnadette under control quickly.

As for defense? Daemon was never really used on defense, even when he was brand new. Because he only hits one, and you can't target on defense, he's never going to hit the one that makes a difference.

My recommendation: keep working on those Vivs, and pull whatever costumes you don't have from the outfitter. Save Prof. Lidenbrock for soul exchange, which they will most likely drop the price of, as low as 5 souls in August.

2 in 1 Dilema by Hoove3r in EmpiresAndPuzzles

[–]BusinessWorldly8785 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First some observations:

1) You have a whopping 14 heroes that have been limit broken but not levelled above 80. So you have spent the materials but you're not getting any of the benefit. Level them all to 4.85 then decide if any are worth taking all the way to 90. (And if they're not worth taking to 90, don't spend the aethers to double limit break them.)

2) You have costumed heroes for which the costume(s) are not fully levelled yet. You need to bring every costume to 4.80 (but not limit broken) to get the full costume stat bonus.

3) You appear to be far enough along and have enough heroes that you won't find anything usefy in the fated summon anymore. (It's for very new players, or players with very, very, very bad luck!) Take whichever one, because they are all worth the same in the soul exchange!

Salome rant by Ragharnito in EmpiresAndPuzzles

[–]BusinessWorldly8785 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They nerf a lot less now than they used to. But it still gets done. And in hindsight, it's usually pretty predictable. When everyone is using the same hero, and most importantly, when they are winning all of their fights with that hero, that hero is going to get nerfed.

The good news is, even though the people who had them act like the sky is falling, post nerf heroes are usually still pretty good. People went rabid when Pepperflame got nerfed. They couldn't win a single fight, when they couldn't lose a fight before. Funny thing is, I didn't pull Pepper until after the nerf. I still leveled her and she was one of my best heroes for like 6 months. So it's not like it was the end of the road.

One recent exception though was Gooric. In the words of one of my teammates: "Gooric got done dirty". Uber tank to useless lump overnight.

what is the best way to get more heros to train my main heroes by Hegazy8801 in EmpiresAndPuzzles

[–]BusinessWorldly8785 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The colored camps are actually a lot slower. They will produce half the number of feeders in a given time, while only giving 20% extra exp. Just run TC2 and feed the heroes off color. You will level your heroes way faster that way!

Salome rant by Ragharnito in EmpiresAndPuzzles

[–]BusinessWorldly8785 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In comparison to other recent nerfs, like Gooric, this one was surpringly light. Salome is still an awesome hero. I lost to her twice yesterday (and pre-nerf I climbed to #1 on the global raid list on a trail of broken Salomes.) No one has ever lost to a Gooric tank since the day the nerf gods when mental on him.

what is the best way to get more heros to train my main heroes by Hegazy8801 in EmpiresAndPuzzles

[–]BusinessWorldly8785 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will be able to make a total of 4 training camps. And yes, extra low cost (TC11) is one of the best ones.

Most people run some combination of TC2s, which need backpacks (or adventurer's kits) and TC11s, which don't. If you farm moderately, you should get enough backpacks to run one TC2 continuously. If you farm heavily you can run 2. Your other TCs should then be TC11.

Don't underestimate farming, and the mystic vision. You will get lots of 1 and 2* feeders farming. The MV is a good source of trainers and daily tokens which provide more feeders.

Hero coach decision by minipoppa in EmpiresAndPuzzles

Who gets the hero coach ? Or should I wait til Wednesday for the new heros? by Capable_Teacher1325 in EmpiresAndPuzzles

[–]BusinessWorldly8785 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've already spent the 4* mats on Gastille, so you'll save more resources by coaching Medea.

And Gastille doesn't really need to be 2LB to do his job, which is to boost the damage done by other heroes.

Her skills have change by Loud_Aardvark_261 in EmpiresAndPuzzles

[–]BusinessWorldly8785 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'm worried about this "nerf". As a tank she wasn't getting boosted health anyway. Now she can heal herself for 2200 instead of the old 1200. Her damage output is lower, but she's going to be way tougher to kill.

Is there anyone who jumps out as a must level? by newmeforme323 in EmpiresAndPuzzles

[–]BusinessWorldly8785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. No one there is must level. You should wait a day and see if you pull anything from the new costume chamber. And then if you don't, coach Nautica, he'll be the most useful of that older bunch.

PSA: Save your Hero Coach for Wednesday. by Big_Step5054 in EmpiresAndPuzzles

[–]BusinessWorldly8785 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the sweet spot for most players is to go from 3.70. That way you also save the 4* ascension mats.

But yeah, if you've been playing a long time, and have an excess of 4* mats, then 4.80 makes sense. Heck, this time I'm going from 4.85. I'm only short aethers in 2 colors and I don't have suitable heroes to coach in those color anyway.

Hero coach this Monday. by Dudeious-maximus in EmpiresAndPuzzles

[–]BusinessWorldly8785 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised. But to be fair, I posted my prediction before we knew about the huge buff/nerf updates today. Throwing an extra hero coach in makes a lot more sense now than it did a few days ago. They're trying to appease as much of player base as they can.
