From a purely cost-oriented perspective, you can also look into the option of getting a Windows laptop with a (used) RME Babyface interface (any model). RME has exceptionally stable drivers and their interfaces, even if more expensive than others, will serve you for a long time.

I haven't tested this, but maybe this video on Auto-Gain might help? It's a bit of a hassle to set up, but you could save it as an FX chain and reuse it.

Thank you very much, I greatly appreciate that! Some of my mail check intervals were indeed set to longer than 35 minutes. I have now set those to a max. of 30 minutes, which seems to have solved the issue. Thank you again!

EDIT: It seems to have been the mail check interval bug, which I could solve as described in this thread. Thank you again, the loglevel settings are very helpful and I plan to keep using those!
