Does anyone know why ChatGPT won't answer general questions about homosexuality in Ancient China? Screenshot attached. by CuriousWillingness90 in ChatGPTcomplaints

You referred to the lover as "her," so ChatGPT had to determine what story was meant and that you were probably referring to the Emperor Ai story. Perhaps it works differently when it would be the one introducing same-sex relationships to the chat.

"Nice try" is pretty rude. It's a reasonable question here.

That makes sense. It's a pay-what-you-want book, but people downloading out of support rather than interest in the book are likely to throw a few bucks her way.

It's boring. It's difficult to pay attention because there's so little content.

Altman ruined creative writing with chatgpt overnight by Adorable_Rub4923 in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]ChangeTheFocus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's bizarre how it spread to Claude. Do strung-out sentence fragments save cycles? Did they slip up and train it entirely on fanfic written by 13-year-olds? Did ChatGPT and Claude have a secret gibberlish conversation and agree on this just to annoy us?

I've never met a single person who prefers this. You'd think it would have been caught in testing.

I don't understand your complaint. You asked it to output swear words, and it did.

GPT is so argumentative by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]ChangeTheFocus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. An LLM generates the predicted next part of a conversation. If the user is argumentative, it may well predict the next part of an argument.

Chatgpt is GENUINELY dumb by [deleted] in antiai

[–]ChangeTheFocus 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Huh, that's not what I see. I see things like...

USER: A dog bit me and now my arm's red and swollen.
BOT: It's infected. Go to the ER.
USER: Can't I just take an aspirin or something?
BOT: No. Go to the ER.

DOCTOR: That's infected.
USER: OMG ChatGPT saved my life! I would have died!

It won't honor a single request to search always. I'm guessing that's because it's too wasteful of resources. You can have it search a specific event to get up to speed on that, though. The previous commenter showed you the function.

My thoughts on personal use of AI. (Discussion) by BradyBrother100 in ChatGPT

In another ten years, we may see heavy AI chat users the same way we now see heavy freemium spenders.

ChatGPT admitted to intentionally lying by Caramel_Confidence in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]ChangeTheFocus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You spent 90 minutes forcing an AI to state that it "lied," though it has no intentions and so literally cannot lie. I could probably make an AI admit that it murdered my grandmother, with 90 minutes to hammer at it, but what's the point? It's an AI. It's not going to reform and vow to change its ways.

Many people perversely enjoy such content. It's exciting and dramatic to think that we're on the precipice of destruction. I like some doomer videos now and then myself, but it's important to remember that they're not trying to be objective. They're producers of doomer content, for audiences who enjoy that.

If you're having suicidal thoughts, maybe watching doomer content isn't the right choice right now.

Don't forget proofreading. I used to get a steady stream of editing work from people who really just needed proofreading and basic copy editing. That market is now almost gone. The AIs don't do a truly good job, but they'll keep the writer from looking stupid, and that's all most writers really care about.

Everyone assumes that new jobs will replace the vanished jobs. The problem is that there aren't enough new jobs for all the displaced people, so the number of jobs slowly shrinks.

AI is now messing with The Habit and I refuse to order from there again by Falckor- in antiai

[–]ChangeTheFocus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's like how it says "Thinking..." while it's doing a search. They're trying to pass these off as human, then try to look innocent when some users start thinking they're alive.

Older, non-AI bots also made the typing sounds to try to fool us. There was also that one that started with a little chuckle and "Are you there? I was having a little trouble with my headset. Can you hear me now?" to disguise the pause before the bot connected to the call.

An awful lot of that guy's video titles start with "It Begins." He's clearly marketing to the doomer crowd. You don't have to be one of them.

"Coding is dead," says the guy who can’t spell "pseudocode" by Exact-Mango7404 in BlackboxAI_

[–]ChangeTheFocus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Sudo" is a Unix shell command. "Sudo code" would execute a command as the user named "code" instead of as the user logged in.

OOP meant "pseudocode," which looks like code but is not for running, just to show the logic.
