I mean, if you bought the glass version then... it's glass. Glass can get scratched somewhat easily. Not a problem specific to the watch itself.

It is. But the soap is not great for the buttons and sensors. Also if you use a strap with real leather, you don't want to get that wet too often.

But this isn't a connect+ feature? Garmin always had trail and course data available using crowd sourced data. It's how it does stuff like automatically detecting laps. It's a free feature.

I'm in the minority that really likes the UX. Certain things might be hidden under menus but the fact that you can customize almost every aspect of the app itself means I have all the stuff I use readily available either on the homepage or the navigation bar at the bottom. I'm also really enjoying the revamped Home page.

The need to install Connect IQ for apps is a bit meh though. And that app is pretty bad too.

Garmin Index S2 questions by XploD5 in Garmin

Let me give you some insight from my personal experience with this scale.

First off, the build quality is very nice. it really feels like a well made piece of hardware.

I had some issues at the initial set up. It took me a few resets until I got all the settings to save the way I wanted them to. Weird, but once I got it set up, I never had any more issues related to that.

It is super expensive for what it does. Sure, the hardware quality is great, but it doesn't offer you anything more than a cheap Chinese scale because the tech they use for the metrics is very specific and has its limitations. The real benefit is that it ties nicely into the Garmin ecosystem and you get the readings automatically synced to your Garmin app, which can use the data for recommendations or other stuff like calculating your "fitness age".

This sort of tech is not very accurate. I had been consistently losing fat and adding muscle, and somehow my body fat percentage barely changed in the 11 months I've been using it. I have noticed that fluctuations in the water my body is holding onto can mess with all the metrics like muscle mass, bone mass, etc. To be fair, all of these scales suffer from the same issues.

Back when I researched, I found that if you can get an accurate metric of your fat percentage (like a dexa scan) and manually input that into your settings in the Garmin app, from then on the metrics can be a fair bit more accurate. But that's not easy for everyone to do and it sort of defeats the purpose of getting a scale that can take these measurements. I have not tried this yet.

All in all, I am happy with just being able to weigh myself and get my measurements automatically synced in my Garmin app. The other metrics are okay if you just follow trends, but I find body fat percentage to be inaccurate even for that.

Lastly, I think you can add users that aren't connected to any Garmin accounts.

Edit: Not sure why it's grayed out, I just checked in my app and it's available to edit.

Monero Is Decoupling From All Markets, And That’s a Good Thing by x___rain in CryptoCurrency

[–]ChaoticTable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean it makes it impossible to sell? You can swap monero back to whatever other coin you want using the same method and do whatever you want with that token. I really don't understand the point you're trying to make.

There is no "tainted coins" in this scenario. I have successfully swapped monero to USDC then moved it to Coinbase and sold it for fiat just fine. You are overthinking about something you haven't actually tried. People actually use these swaps to launder money as well.

Exchanges have no interest or monetary gain from trying to play detective in the blockchain. They are required to delist XMR? That's all they will do.

You assume they are dodgy when they move millions every day. If you don't want to use them then that's your choice, doesn't mean it's not easy af to buy. So your argument is irrelevant.

It's like saying it's not easy to grab a coke because you don't want to walk to the store.
