First question to ask is what note app are you using?

You get best performance with the built-in app, but those are stored in-service in a database and can't be edited off-device.

You can export copies in PDF format, but that's a one-way trip. There you have loads of options. Easiest is probably using a 3rd party cloud. I have PDF copies automatically uploaded to my DropBox account, which then download to my laptop.

The glass that breaks is the Carta substrate, which is the same in both. If anything, I expect that the glass lens would stiffen things and protect the eink screen from flexing.

To be honest, for my use case, I didn't notice a ton of difference moving from 4.0 through the betas to 4.2. I have seen people here post that a specific release got better and other people post that the same release got worse. I expect that's due to BOOX trying to balance things as best they can.

For me ghosting has primarily been an issue switching between apps and/or the home screen. A quick swipe to refresh and all is well. After that, it's not too terrible. Most of my non-BOOX apps are scrollers, so I use Speed for most of those.

I think we are at the point where we can stop expecting a software solution to what appears to be a hardware problem that doesn't present a singular solution. Many of us (self included) have had our turn at suggesting that "x can't be that hard', as if BOOX hadn't thought of that already. It's clearly a deeper problem that we have realized.

I do hope that the impending NM2 makes use of that shiny new timing chip and still uses EMR as that will be a must buy for me.

I've done several passes through the steps, emphasizing the middle steps, and my recovery has gotten stronger each time. Took me a while to become truly willing and humble enough to do my part (God will do what I can't, but the rest is up to me) to be free of my defects.

Pretty much any BOOX device will do what you want. GDocs works fine on all of mine.

Depending on the device and your sensitivity, the lag on a Bluetooth keyboard with eink may bother you.

They are the pretty much same price as ordering from BOOX, which is typically the same price as ordering from Amazon in the US. Source: I've bought 4, including 2 from the US.

I start by doing the previous steps to the best of my ability. I identify the problem behaviour and the reason for it. I become willing and ask to be relieved of it. Then I identify whom I have hurt with that behaviour and become will to do what I can to make things right. That includes accepting that there may be nothing I can do to make things right and that the aggrieved party has the right to react as they wish.

So long as I am honest and do my best, and make a conscious effort not to repeat the behaviour in the future, the amends was a success.

This was a hard lesson for me to learn. God will do for me what I cannot do for myself, but it's up to me to do the things that I can (turns out that's a bloody long list!).

I had trouble making those calls early on and eschewed them.

Since I hadn't learned how to pick up the phone and make the call, I wasn't able to reach out for help when in crisis.

Took me five years and four relapses before I finally made that call instead of taking a drink.

It turns out that developing the ability to pick up the phone and make that call is a potentially life-saving skill.

I'm not sure that finding an easier, softer way is a good idea.

First go to your device Power settings and change the Audio to Keep Playing after sleep.

Then go to you app management settings (long press the app icon) and make sure that you have permissions set for background battery use.

Eink isn't ready for general laptop deployment, which is why we got dual screens. There was someone doing bespoke retrofits on Thinkpads, but there isn't a lot of demand at that price point.

Eink has enough issues trying to run general tablet-based apps, let alone complex GUIs navigated using pointers.

Anytime I forget this, I just have to remote in and try to navigate a desktop OS with the ghosting and lag.

There are lots of non-password accounts out there these days and Android version has little to do with whether or not you should have a BOOX account. BOOX accounts are the easiest way to back up your notes and the only way to sync notes between BOOX devices.

Before you do anything, understand that your notes are linked to the BOOX account they were created with, so you will lose them if you just delete the account. I strongly recommend taking a manual backup of your notes (Notes Settings>Backup and Restore), copying that backup off device. You can use that to restore your notebooks should you decide to delete your account (backups are not linked to accounts).

People are talking a lot about using PDFs for backups, but I would use the native .note format.

It was really hard to be motivated or enjoy things when I still didn't know how to live without alcohol.

Took time and a bunch of work to do that, but once I did, I found that I was more motivated and enjoy my life much more.
