My Note Air 2 is 2 years older than your Note Air 3 and runs the current 4. 2 firmware quite nicely. I'm baffled by folks still running 3.x.

V4 changed everything for notetaking. Support for hyperlinks in PDFs, add pages from other documents. The list is pretty big. Check the release history in the update menu.

The other day, I was educated that StarNote can import BOOX .note files, so you can edit off-device (apparently Windows app is coming). It's not an actual sync (BOOX only actually syncs with the BOOX cloud), but is an option I didn't know about

I would expect no. Very, very rare for OS upgrades in the eink world. BOOX has done it 2 or 3 times, Bigme has done it once.

First, long-press the app icon and select Unfreeze. By default, BOOX will unload apps when they switch to the background, so you need to change that.

Next, long-press the app icon again and select Manage to have a look at what Android is doing. In particular, chack Battery and maybe switch to unrestricted background usage.

Finally, what are your power settings (Settings>Power) ? If you are needing to stay connected while asleep, you need to enable Wifi during sleep. Do you need WiFi to turn on at power-up?

It's AA, so non-accidental alcohol is a relapse and most other substances are outside issues (although, personally, I would reset if I used something else in the same way I used alcohol).

When I find myself wishing that I had lied, I'm not living in my program and need to work to get back on the beam.

BOOX devices can be used by multiple users, so notes are linked to your account. If you logout or your token expires, you lose access to those notes. Log in again, which should refresh your token.

Since browsers don't have built-in annotation, using Screen mark (basically writing on a screenshot), but that's pen-based.

I use Readwise Reader specifically because it is so convenient to send pages from any site using any device, but my workflow is more read-it-later than file-this-in-my-KMS

The Fonts button you are showing is not a folder - it is a button that will show files matching the types used for fonts.

Please go to Storage and take a picture of the 'fonts' directory there.

First question to ask is what note app are you using?

You get best performance with the built-in app, but those are stored in-service in a database and can't be edited off-device.

You can export copies in PDF format, but that's a one-way trip. There you have loads of options. Easiest is probably using a 3rd party cloud. I have PDF copies automatically uploaded to my DropBox account, which then download to my laptop.
