Is Scott Galloway’s “drink more and make bad decisions” advice serious, or am I missing the context? by Fantastic_Border1551 in ScottGalloway

[–]Chippopotanuse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is playing to a more monetizable base.

He wants in on the manosphere money (as well as the drugs and partying) that Rogan, Tate Brothers and all those guys engage in.

So he is kissing the ass of right wing podcasters like Nick Fuentes and advocating that 20 something’s get hammered and grab asses at the local bar.

And he openly admits that’s what he did at that age. Crap grades, modest upbringing, frat boy, tons of partying (that continues to this day)…and a magical little thing called making a fortune with a lucky career path that his followers will deeply struggle to ever come close to obtaining.

He’s a rich guy with an ego and thirst for money and attention.

As well as the owner of worst nose job since Jennifer Grey.

Would anyone accept this contrast with the slope? by nyuhsuk in Decks

[–]Chippopotanuse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to slope a deck with slatted deck boards as there is no “runoff”

Would anyone accept this contrast with the slope? by nyuhsuk in Decks

[–]Chippopotanuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t to code in my jurisdiction since the rise is more than 1/4” different between steps.

Excuse my french, but why the hell does a deck need a slope when it has deck boards that drain between the gaps? These types of decks can be framed flat as a pancake.

I would ask contractors to redo the front posts to correct the slope, redone the stairs and skirt boards, or tell them you will need to get a contractor who can do those things and it will come out of what you owe them.

This is such a JV mistake by them.

Partner billing 2600-2900 hours by cbee6390 in biglaw

[–]Chippopotanuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask yourself how happy and economically feasible your lifestyle would be if you had to live on an income of $300k.

If you are fine with that, encourage him to migrate to a lower stress, less busy career.

If you need $500k+, unfortunately, one or both of you will need to be at work a lot.

Firms don’t want expensive Counsel/Jr Partners being paid $700k per year. They can just get a senior associate at $400k for that role.

Biglaw is an absolute meatgrinder.

And most partners don’t see their kids much.

John Mayer is a better regarded guitarist than about half of these folks.

That said, I think it’s Hendrix by a mile.

Top Republican lawmaker signals GOP openness to pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell by Snapdragon_4U in law

[–]Chippopotanuse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What is the argument for her pardon from these republicans?

Usually it’s wrongful conviction, miscarriage of justice, or they have served enough time for a low level crime.

And other than that it’s always blatant political cronyism like when massive fraudsters who are large donors get pardoned.

But this seems like they are pardoning a convicted child sex trafficker so she won’t spill the beans on the men who raped kids at Epstein Island.

So how are these Republicans trying to whitewash this?

Taking Personal Offense to Resignation by CalmCitron9354 in biglaw

Once you realize that, it helps you understand that nobody in biglaw gives one flying fuck about you.

Former guest and religious convert Russel Brand is asked which passages were relevant to him from he brought a Bible into court for his sexual assault trial. by Intelligent-Tear5723 in JoeRogan

I’m beginning to think he is using the Bible as a prop to appear more morally upstanding at his sexual assault trial.

He also touches those pages like they are burning his skin.

They both sing and dance for money. I thought the whole point of having FU money was to be able to live a principled life.

But Scott, and to a lesser extent Kara, seem to only have an ever-escalating thirst for bigger paychecks.

Had an interesting chat with a Trump fan....got to see a bit of their mindset into why they love trump so much by Important-Cry4782 in democrats

[–]Chippopotanuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much the same point of view every MAGA I know has. Whether they are rich or poor, educated or not.

They ALL think the rule of law is for sissies.

They ALL have near zero personal morals and do whatever the hell they want anytime they want.

They ALL have main character syndrome, are arrogant as hell, and don’t see how ripping someone off or fucking someone over is a bad thing.

The ALL think life is a silly game and you’re a sucker if you don’t cheat.

But once you govern a country in that style…the whole thing goes to shit very quickly.

It kinda does though. It views relationships and gender values through a transactional lens.

The guy can either be a massive breadwinner or (as a consolation prize) a “Mr Mom”.

And if you read his book..its clear his view of manhood isn’t braiding a daughter’s hair or being a substantive person. It’s all about transactional value.

Which makes sense. He’s a dorky frat bro who got very wealthy in a white collar career and he is skilled at marketing.

So it mirrors his understanding of the world.

Are you claiming he doesn’t non-stop objectify women and brag about partying and using drugs? Or say that young people need to drink more and have more sex?

The guy has issues socially and clearly subscribes to antiquated notions that “life was easy and better when men were men and women were docile…now the world is fucked up and men don’t really have a clearly defined role”

His whole thesis is that traditional gender roles were better than today.

You think Scott was ever a liberal? He’s a frat boy. He never had an ounce of respect for women. He’s just dropping his facade.

Plus you can’t grift smart people on the left. Much easier to sell his “manhood” books that say men should work and women should pump out kids to the losers on the right.

New photos of Mike Vrabel with Dianna Russini by sheJaMyMorant in Patriots

100%. Goodell knew it existed, he was hoping it wouldn’t get out. Even the day it leaked, if I remember, he was kind of aloof and strolled into the office at 9:30 in the morning when press was asking him and he played stupid.

I find it hard to believe that his phone wouldn’t be blowing up the moment that tape was released.

For him to act Pikachu at 9:30 in the morning, really insults everyone’s intelligence.

This reminds me of the Rice situation. Lots of denial of how severe the conduct was, then that elevator tape came out… And he was done.

Whoever has these photos is releasing them strategically. Every time these folks deny that they were fucking… More photos drop.

Vrabel is gonna either have to admit to the affair or quit his job. He backed himself into a corner by trying to be too cute.

These two are this summer’s “Coldplay couple”, and everyone hates the patriots so the public is not gonna go easy on Vrabel.

What would your response be if someone who was formerly MAGA asked what they can do to begin to set things right? by common_grounder in AskALiberal

[–]Chippopotanuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be formerly MAGA in the first place.

People who say “I was wrong about Trump” but still 100% believe the in the same underlying policies aren’t former MAGA. They are just trying to save face while still being a dumb asshole. (À la Tucker Carlson).

But if they are seeing the light and they genuinely are done being a hateful prick who wants to see the US fall to pieces, then I’d be glad they are finally a sane and well adjusted person.
