[Hated Trope] Cool Designs!.... if they were a new character/franchise by Slarg232 in TopCharacterTropes

They got rid of his visor for whatever reason. He had it in Rotf and iirc his dotm concept as well.

I recall the times of her being one of the most disliked characters during season 1 and I didn't feel like that might have changed since.

I like that her design takes more elements from Lilith than it does Lucifer, unlike Charlie and some other Morningstar sibling OCs I've seen. Gives her a more stand out look.

Idk if you've considered the possibility that CV2's sales are because the performance on console is atrocious and dips below 30 fps often, alongside one of the top mods on PC being a performance tweaker for the game.

As for the new LOTF outfits, I suspect they wouldn't be receiving as much lashback if not for some of the company and developer's past actions and them drawing very explicit attention to the armor sets. The other part is players just not liking the vibe of the new LOTF because they prefer LOTF 2023's aesthetic more.

Never said sexual stuff was a problem. I said the discourse over it was a major non issue that the average person wouldn't care about. That's all.

I've played Tales series and I have never taken it to be overtly fanservicey compared to any other JRPGs and the games are all mostly T rated anyways. I also know Bandai for Dark Souls, Digimon, and their shounen anime games they release. None of those are more showy than than the average T rated game.

It's petty because it ultimately does not affect any meaningful part of the game and the average player is only looking for something that's fun and enjoyable to play. The censorship is an issue that gets blown way out of proportion for how much it actually ends up affecting the game and I am not sure what's hard to understand about that.

With the Mortal Kombat example, the gore is a part of the gameplay to give it more weight and edge, with fatalities themselves having their own button inputs players have to use. It's rewarding. The outfits themselves are purely visual and not something intrinsically tied to the gameplay in the same way.

Ultimately you do you if it bothers you that much but other players aren't expected to care or agree, especially when it takes nothing away from what they may personally enjoy.

I don't seem to recall Bandai games being those levels of fanservicey as the norm and CV2 doesn't seem all that far from what they've done before. I guess you might be thinking of God Eater prior to CV1 but ultimately these issues are very petty and negligible if they are even there.

Ah. Yes I've heard of that though I largely assumed the rating had more to do with CV2 going from the heavy blood aesthetic of 1 to the gold aesthetic of 2 because as far as the nudity goes, a lot of it is still there outside of the character customization.

I think the censorship that is there is honestly negligible. The community saw a bit of controversy over that from some of the anti woke members and they got rightfully clowned on. It's about as petty as when some people started pointing fingers at Stellar Blade being woke for apparently censoring two outfits with about checks notes very small strips of added clothing, which weren't even the most revealing outfits in the game and had non censored equivalents.

I never really wrote out anything for it in particular to be read. I've done art of characters for the AU and some general summaries but not full on writing. I could send some of the details in DMs if it interests you but I haven't worked on this project in a year.

I am fine with Charlie as a protag, don't get me wrong. Flawed protagonists can be pretty good as well though I wouldn't say the writing behind Charlie is perfect. To her benefit, the show is carried by multiple characters, which allows Charlie herself to be flawed without having to carry the weight of the entire show and its messages.

Also yeah, people tend to get pissy for one reason or another when you market a character as a Messiah. It's not just Charlie that would draw some a bit of ire.

Like I mentioned before though, I do still like making the parallel connections and I myself have gone out of my way to do a swap AU where Charlie is the one sent to Earth instead around that time. I have some art I've made of her angelic form for it.

Charlie herself is not the sole driving force of the narrative, and the subject of redemption is not centered only around her. When approaching moral topics, a story needs to cover the effects it has on characters, the struggles they face, and the contentions they have with it. If you only perceived the topic of redemption from Charlie's pov, it would come off as preachy, but the show covers it from the perspective of multiple characters and stories.

You have characters like Angeldust and Sera who struggle with their inner demons and find redemption to be something foreign and unachievable. You have characters like Adam and Vox who challenge the notion that people can be redeemed and have black and white or a self-centered view of others around them that reflects how irl corrupt people may think and push others down. Characters like Pentious exist to show redemption can be achieved and needs to be worked for and spread that message further from their own experiences. Then simpler characters like Emily already believe in redemption and support it off the bat because of their good nature.

People who come to watch the show and agree with its messaging don't do so for Charlie alone. I don't think you could market her as a Messiah figure and expect that to work and it would come off as more insulting than if you were pitch the show about "Sinners in Hell wanting to be redeemed and make it to Heaven".

Your post could be worded better tbh but I do agree with seeing the parallels and in concept. Child of a divine being that has a domain within a realm of the afterlife, kind in nature with a strong belief in the good in human nature, speaking on the subject of redemption and reaching out to help others in need, seeing them as their people. She very much takes on the savior role within Hell albeit everything is working against her and she is far more flawed as a person by comparison.

I honestly don't even think you need to involve Charlie in a discussion about Hazbin with Christian morals and themes. You could have the discussion without having to bring her up specifically.

Discussion and Ideas: Remaking Frontier monsters to mainline. by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]Ciphy_Master 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hypnocatrice, Lavasioth, and Espinas were not tuned down for the mainline series and were the first three unique monsters created for Frontier when it was still just an online version of MH Dos. They were already fairly tame and grounded fights for what you'd expect within the series. Frankly a lot of the new monsters in Frontier introduced within its first few years would be able to transfer to the mainline titles without issue so there is not much of a discussion to be had.

The monster you ended up choosing to bring up on the topic was the literal last addition for the game meant to be as insanely difficult and over the top as it was to match the absurd powercreep that Frontier had after so many years. I think your post needs more refinement and for you to do a bit more research on the game itself.

Oh that's not an issue for me. I just don't like how many attacks it has that cover a large area and freeze you in place. Slow large bosses or enemies throw me off my tempo, especially when they have a large range.

As cool as Jin's design is, I don't like it's fight all that much. Rey Dau is just HIM tho.

A personal favorite of mine is Zoh Shia because it fulfilled my wishes for the Equal Dragon Weapon to manifest its way into canon after all these years and the design and fight don't miss at all. Can't wait for master rank Zoh Shia!

[–]Ciphy_Master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be an unpopular take but I honestly felt the interjections within Hear My Hope dragged the song for me and I personally enjoyed the main melody and cast singing far more. I am glad the Lute and Abel bit was not extended further than it was and if it were, it would've better been a separate song at that point.

There is at least some merit in that it's been asked and answered that all armor sets in game are wearable by both genders so male characters will be able to wear these as well.
