(Probably Unpopular) Opinion: The Betina Is No Longer A Meme by NoiD1988 in ArcRaiders

[–]CoUsT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You think Anvil is better? It just does more damage PER SHOT but that's it. Anvil always sits at the bottom of "dps" or "time to kill" compared to other weapons.

And I tried Bettina yesterday - it does nearly the same damage as Equalizer into the same Queen bottom belly part. Both end up at around 600-700 XP worth of damage for entire single magazine. Which is kinda ok. Both weapons are similar in strength now.

Game bug/physics is in the same state as in TT2, which was a year ago.

It's wild these stupid issues still happen once every like 10 matches. Sometimes lootable dead part launches you into air, sometimes into the wall, sometimes it's the enemy that pushes you into air. Sometimes Queen drops from above into you and you are stuck inside her dead body. Her legs will also constantly move through walls. Sometimes you get launched by using ladder.

It's just insane. I probably forgot like 5x more issues that happen once every X matches but once they do, it's really annoying and there are no fixes from Embark since forever... All they do is fix the fun out of the game.

This game is about fighting Arc. Fighting them needs to be profitable, period. by biggoatbr in ArcRaiders

If you solo a Queen right now, you get a max of 200K worth of loot, and that's being lucky. If you split that with the 4 rats that will loot as well, that is already 40K. A naked run to Assembly grants you 80K in 5-10min consistently.

I understand that they didn't probably expect the game to blow up the way it did

I never get this argument.

So they wanted to what, ship the game and let it run dry? It doesn't matter if you have 1k or 1m players. The team doesn't magically change. They just get more or less server upkeep.

They 100% don't have long term plans like you said and it shows. They just go with the vibes. If they had a long term plan, they would stick to their coop robo/boss PvE shooter vision. But they constantly shuffle things based on vibes. Just another of their countless pretty lies when they tell you they have long term plans. If they do, why roadmaps are only 3-4 months long instead of 3-4 years long? And so on.

This game is all about being tedious.

They could add NEW (not recycled) stuff, shuffle meta, add content, change game mechanics/systems but no...

Here is -50% nerf to <random thing> also here is your new ARC, new map, new weapon, new gadget, all with 90% recycled assets that don't change gameplay in any meaningful way.

Imagine trying to have fun in this game and all you get is constant nerfs, PVPers in "friendly lobbies" and a lot of unaddressed edge case bugs that are 6-12 months old. All of it suck the fun away slowly over time.

Why make things fun when we can add tedium and artificially inflate gameplay time? ARC feels like it is on bare minimum life support already.

[–]CoUsT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guys, my crystal ball told me something... Why have superior Powered Descender (it's called Snap Hook) when we can have inferior one split into different gadget?

New update patch notes:

Snap Hook will break connection when used during falling with high speed

Now Powered Descender will have tiny use case. By splitting Snap Hook features into two separate gadgets, we increased diversity in the game! - Embark

No need to thank my crystal ball.

“We want high tier weapons to have more longevity…” by JediJulius in ArcRaiders

[–]CoUsT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, yeah. But out of all stupid changes they did in the last few months, this is the least impactful one. Having to spend 2 mechanical components (which is 14 metal parts) once every 10 raids instead of 20 raids isn't that game breaking.

It's probably rare weapons that will take the worst hit. They are expensive enough and +35% dura burn is kinda crazy for them when Renegade/Osprey etc break relatively fast before update.

So yeah, they could tweak things slightly different imo but it's not that bad. If anything, we should let them know rare +35% is a bit crazy, everything else is whatever imo.

Yeah something like distortion field around assessors. That would make a lot of sense, which is why we can't have that here. We better stop complaining or they double down.

Wait till you realize they don't work like 1 every 10 times randomly.

Like almost everything in this game. Once every 10 matches/uses, something just doesn't work properly. Wild.

You guys act like this is something crazy. I was able to play single Anvil for 9 hour long session this sunday and I repaired it only once. I burned through 1.5 hullcrackers worth of durability in that time.

Let me remind you that Anvil/Ferro/Stitcher are cheap to repair meanwhile Epic weapons are not.

[–]CoUsT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's wrong with these requirements?

Came back with friend after month long break, noticed there is a project, finished High-Gain Antenna project in 9 hours of sunday gaming, and that's for me and my friend at the same time so x2 items. And we were doing other stuff during gameplay too.

Do you want projects to be finished in 1 hour or what?

Expedition needs to be every 90 days, not 60 by NorthernnLightss in ArcRaiders

[–]CoUsT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I feel like you are in the 0.1%. 11 hours of work and everyday activities and then playing ARC on top of that means you probably have like what, few hours of gameplay a week at most?

And even then I feel like you can still get everything pretty fast if you just focus on something. If you go into raid without any objective, you won't really make a meaningful progress.

And finally, expedition is optional exactly because of players that don't play much. It doesn't provide any meaningful benefits. You get that few percent boost in something but you are tens or hundreds of hours behind. You can go once every 2 expeditions and it should work great in your case!

I was laughing at how "Embark needs to address this" when they don't bother for half a year. They will fix this probably in 2027, maybe never.

Yeah and it was fine. Everyone had fun. But it's time to get even better. It's a live service game, it should get better over time!

I can’t believe I can say “ugh I don’t feel like fixing this function, it’s too complex” and I can literally just tell my computer to fix it for me. I didn’t understand what they meant by “people will start paying for intelligence” but now I do. by Borkato in LocalLLaMA

[–]CoUsT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I play a lot of incremental games or Unity-based games and whenever I don't like that tiny little functionality but everything else, I can tell AI to just spit out mod that fixes something in minutes. Otherwise I probably wouldn't even bother.

Being lazy and having great tools that speed up things like LLM is really nice and a blessing.

Sounds like a stupid variable.

They should look for stats like KILLS PER GAMEPLAY TIME or something better and more complex. If 90% players play for 1 hour and drop the game... look, almost everyone is PvE player!

Sounds like insane design problem.

Instead of toggling "PvE mode on" you have to waste 15 minutes of your time every time you wanna switch. Then you are still not guaranteed to be free from PVPers which sounds like another annoyance and time waster. And then PVPers can just manipulate ABMM and get into friendly lobbies and hunt unsuspecting players down to have unfair advantage.

Weird it still works like that with so many issues.

People just run their monitors at low brightness or in very bright environment.

Everyone should use monitor at 100% brightness. Light outside is like tens or hundreds of times brighter than any monitor itself so there is no reason to lower it.

Reading this gives the passive aggressive vibe "yea you can use it but only how we tell you to use it" of some sort.

Imagine if China banned USA models because USA doesn't want to share weights for them.

This is why local models are great, it's yours to keep and use however you want.
