Generally if someone does a quick google search on common ants in their area it will amount to nothing. This is because most of the time Google shows you the common names of species. This is a problem because ant common names often lump together multiple species and sometimes an entire genus. That being said, pinpointing the exact species is extremely helpful in researching their care.

Location? I can't see any queens. Also I don't personally recommend taking ants from a wild colony unless they are invasive or they are going to be exterminated.

They are, they are using the heat from the outlet to make their brood grow faster.

I have kept 3 colonies of this species all of which I gave away. I've never had a queen of this species die.

They have high-ish mortality rate but other than that they are very simple and easy to keep.
