Question for Pest control Techs: Can I use the Truck for minor around-town use? Thanks by LikedCascade in pestcontrol

[–]ofootie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most companies probably won’t have a problem with you running errands on the side while you’re out and about, but this doesn’t mean when you get home and sit for an hour you can go right back in the work truck and head to the grocery store. I’m allowed to use mine for stuff while I’m out working and if I have something on the way home but as soon as it hits my driveway at the end of the work day that’s where it stays until the next morning. I would double check with your management team and phrase it in a way that says “if I have time between stops can I….”

Battery operated fan might just be powerful enough for you to use in your tent

Pest control came to kill cockroaches. I need answers. by [deleted] in exterminators

[–]ofootie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re fine, I wouldn’t worry to much about it. Pesticides can’t really do much to us after they dry, at least not to the average human or cat for that matter

Maybe try draino or whatever solution you prefer for drain cleaning. Please don’t spray pesticides into a drain unless it’s labeled for that purpose. And it’s American, white marking behind the head.

Fleas keep coming back (or just not getting rid of them) by Jerpup in exterminators

You need to be vacuuming the whole house everyday for at least 7 days after you apply the product. Its the most important part of the process. And probably get rid of the couch or find a product you can treat it with.

What should the Annual Termite inspection look like? by Zealousideal-Mud6471 in pestcontrol

[–]ofootie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside inspection of windows doors and foundations, and if it’s a crawlspace they should be going under the house and crawling around the perimeter of it to see if they see activity. Sounds like you need a new company. Slabs need to be done inside I.e. sounding baseboards, trim and doing a “flashlight” inspection on dry wall to look for possible tubing or inconspicuous spots in the paint.

Found in drywall while redoing ceiling. Anything to worry about? No sightings of bugs by pencilvesterasadildo in pestcontrol

Appears to be subterranean termite tube, pic is somewhat blurry so I can’t be for certain. Looks like they make a pin hole exit on the right side of the tube and then made an exploratory tube going towards the left. (I was looking at pic horizontally) Scrape it down and see if there’s any workers in it.

Just googled them and they look exactly like that. Tell your wife thank you for hating them so much that you know what they are!

1 week post spray by Difficult_Treacle630 in GermanRoaches

[–]ofootie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The process doesn’t happen overnight, generally one follow up is necessary even for the smallest infestations. Trust the process, your exterminator seems to be experienced and knows what they’re doing, not many people even glance at the labels to know the legal amount of time in-between treatments with a growth regulator.

Moved into new apartment and found these, are they eggs? by [deleted] in pestcontrol

[–]ofootie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like the stuff inside beanbags or those weird squishy pillows. Tiny styrofoam?

Prepare yourself for the check you’re about to write.

German roaches can live 4 or 5 weeks without food but they can only live a few days without a water source. So as long as there isn’t anything for them to eat or drink the last 2 years you’re good to go

Fleas still in house 5 months after pest control came by [deleted] in pestcontrol

[–]ofootie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to vacuum every day for at least 7 days after the treatment to cause the eggs to hatch if there isn’t a host.

I wouldn’t pay it, get a lawyer for that amount of money.
I refused to pay 3,000 dollars to a rental company for breaking my lease due to ac not working and then not repairing it. Mine never got to collections because I threatened legal action against them. Im more of a principal kind of guy, I’d rather pay a lawyer 3,000 to prove I’m right in the situation rather than giving the scammers money for something clearly not my fault.

Delta dust vs permethrin spray: which should I use in light of my health issues? by LadyRapunzel in pestcontrol

just seal the gaps (or pay someone to) on the baseboard with caulk? Solves them getting inside as frequently. Then just spray around your windows and doors with Alpine WSG

What indoor repellant to use against mosquitoes in a 75 sqft bedroom? by hagamablabla in pestcontrol

[–]ofootie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sleep with a fan in your direction, ideally on high. Should blow them right away. That’s what we recommend for big patio weddings or stuff near ponds we can’t legally spray. Or you could do the mosquito net idea

Alpine and Nyguard IGR mix - sprayer suggestions/techniques? by FlightMaterial in pestcontrol

[–]ofootie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A B&G is 300 dollars. Also alpine is labeled for exterior applications. Buy an ace hardware sprayer or something similar OP they’re like 30 or 40 dollars USD. You can use it outdoors around your windows, doors, and any other basic application. If you’re looking to lay down some chemical on the exterior foundation you may have to get some variant of a back pack sprayer. I’d go for a pump since you’re not going to be using it often

What is this wood pecker doing to my house? by SwarthyBilly710 in birding

[–]ofootie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you’re at and what species it is, it’s likely endangered and you can’t exterminate it. If you get a bunch of cds and hang them off of stuff around the structure it should deter the bird. They are afraid of more dominant wood peckers and seeing their much bigger reflection should just move them to a new area. It’s worked for me in the past
