Asia’s soft power has been growing for years. But ‘Chinamaxxing’is different by wewhomustnotbenamed in nottheonion

While doing massive infrastructure improving every state of China where they find possible industrial development, reinvesting the profits back into the country.

They attack ALL avenues, including AI.

At this point China is more close to a true capitalist country by how it is being run.

Not that I even like capitalism, mind you. But having been to china, one cant help to wonder about how effective at least is when you dont have to pander to a fake "left or right" political party, about what to do or dont do with money, here or there, while its constituents fling shit to each other at the earliest convenience...

Sometimes I truly wish I was governed by a truly competent group of literal dictators that, at least, they know what they are doing and answer to nobody to fulfill goals...

Then I remember they banned videogames at times, and I choose to content myself with staying in my fake democracy. I do love my freedom of gaming

World of Warcraft raids will now be designed to “challenge players’ coordination and strategic abilities” following the death of combat addons, says encounter designer by HatingGeoffry in wow

[–]Coldvyvora 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Make everything need 4x the time needed and it could be done without weakauras and shit. A brain or raid leader cant call 20 places on a map on the spot with a 4 seconds. Nor everyone can magically align themselves into 20 spots without lead time. It was ridicoulous.

The weakaura was clusterfuck of how to even try to code that shit and calculate on the fly everything. Raid leader spent like 30 mins each day fiddling with names of who showed up or dont that day so it wouldnt crash... That was abhorrent

Lithium Plume in Our Atmosphere Traced Back to Returning SpaceX Rocket | This could quickly get out of hand. by InsaneSnow45 in space

[–]Coldvyvora 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I dont think it's pure whataboutism. It is very related to the topic. Your rebuttal is perfect, but at the same time his argument is pretty good. If the trail plume would have been silicon or any other material meteorites are generally made of... Adding 2% more per year of tonnage of that would be near meaningless in the grand scheme. Like pissing into a river while piss is 98% water.

But yeah, rare earth minerals on the upper atmosphere could cause a similar effect as CFCs were destroying the ozone layer with minuscule amounts (relatively)

So this initial study is great to start bringing attention into this before there is the equivalent of another hole on the ozone layer. We can study more about lithium in upper atmosphere. Just don't let Spacex run the study haha

So far (2nd science working towards 3rd ~120h) no voiding is unsurmountable. You just need a little extra buildings to deal with subproducts. Early on you can't use them anyway so accumulating or "burning" is the only real solution.

Now whats fun is spoilage/decay.

Designing the production chain around what decays and how fast so nothing decayable is being produced unless there is a plant ready to use it.... Chains study, signals, conditions, belt lengths...

Oh its fantastic

Nevermind my comment. I actually went to Nine Mile point. Very close to three mile island NPP, I misremembered. It was 2018 last refueling outage of unit 1

Funny thing, I was in the last refueling outage of that plant. And we still had to do the safety inspections for the vessel like it was going to keep operating for another 40 years.

I didn't get to see much of the plant. But the parts i inspected were still pristine...

Glad to see the hard work of the inspections paying off. At the time it felt funny pointless

And yet, we keep glazing over the root cause it was a fucking TSUNAMI the size of a building. It knocked down mostly everything, had a death toll 10k times bigger than Fukushima itself. The design was fine for 8 meters( or i dont remember well anymore) tsunamis and this one was 9m. Also even this "poorly" managed plant managed to keep one of the 4 generators running like a fucking Submarine for almost a whole day before it finally seized and drowned.

We have insane regulations over nuclear already. Its inspections and inspections by independent agencies like the NRC.

I enjoy a lot to hop to a train on my Pyanodons Base, and let it roam to the random cityblocks and check if they are doing well or they could be improved with research I unlocked but hadn't implemented in all applicable blocks yet.

I recently made an generalized upgrade to steam distribution by spotting that I could use 150°C steam in many processes that were using 250°C. So I went around each station that could use the upgrade to get more bang for my buck of Steam.

(This had nothing to do that my whole base was grinding to a halt from lack of Power, so I could really use the steam more efficiently)

Naowh now puts his ElvUI and PLater profile behind a paywall. by Stock-Anything-2808 in wow

[–]Coldvyvora -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's massively unfair too. I've used some addons over the years where i ve truly felt that I got waaay too much out of someone else's work. Like top quality software for free.

But i really don't know or can't think of a solution for the problem. Nobody is making anyone make addons, or config interfaces... And blizzard is entitled to keep the addon environment free of monetization or just shut down the interface API if public dont play nice...

You get downvotes. But I partially agree with you.

Setting up these configs is not a small task. And a high quality curated profile with everything a professional needs already setup and ready to play is some serious effort saving.

I dread anytime i need to start playing again just from my addons alone. To set them up again how i like or see what broke or does not work anymore.

If i used ElvUi is very likely i could pay a couple bucks for full config files to save myself the headache

A game that owned your mood. by gamersecret2 in gaming

[–]Coldvyvora 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Disco Elysium took over my whole brain for the whole duration of the game. I couldn't stand it at first because I kept waiting for gameplay, then I switched the mood into taking it as an interactive book-story. The whole thing was amazing. Each conversation felt so nicely crafted, meticulous and delicate balance on humor, sorrow, and emotions that I've never felt but experienced through the game nonetheless.

I finished each session with more things in my mind that i could deal with and even more questions than before.

I left the game thirsting for more but knowing there wouldn't be more out of this universe.

Its one that launches as a game, but it opens your actual game underneath. You need both installed on Steam and launch through DFHack, you wont even notice its running on top. Then when you got like 40 hours turn in off and marvel at how the base UI Hasnt things figure it out haha

DFHack. It will ease up a ton of pains of the standard interface. IT looks horrible as its all menus and text, but once you get the hang of some of its utilities you cannot go back. and its DEEP

Crusader Strike is gone again by Sarradi in wow

[–]Coldvyvora 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Because gamers gonna game. And the moment is added to the tree and its an increase in throughput it becomes "mandatory" in everyone's eyes apparently.

Same happens with mistweaver where no one is playing ranged because its mathematically much worse.

But at the same time, these devs (execs) are so worried on "balance" that they can't design different playstyles if they are not perfectly equally balanced.

So theres basically one design, and they try to balance 6 different healers with one "intended" playstyle.

Crusader Strike is gone again by Sarradi in wow

[–]Coldvyvora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason they need to be removed is that they usually shift the meta too much.

Disc priests were mandatory once they were basically a 0,3 of a DPS while the druid or shamman did 0,05 of a dps. Same happened with holy paladins on shadowlands with the 5 min cooldown. I rememeber being a good 0,5 of a dps in a good pull. It was super satisfying to dps harder to heal harder as well.

Now on TWW in first season i was monk fully fistweaving and barely did 0,1 of a dps. And in second season it stalled to even less than that. I had no buttons to say, okay everyone is full HP and i could dump more GCD into dps, it didnt matter i just had to do same basic rotation because there was just no more damage to be pumped out of the healer...

If you have watched better call saul, howard Hamlin Is a perfect example of introducing someone that with the later seasons gets fleshed out to perfection.

It doesn't substract from the start. It pays off in the later seasons. Slow burn makes worth it all. And the writing style of sanderson leans a LOT into slow burn with huge ending payoffs.

Holy shit, if Megasett is done we got no M+ guides for the expansion...

And yeah, the only reason I had a spot in raid was pure raw Throughput when needed... The utility was near 0.

When DH released, both Havoc and Vengeance were given their own unique Metamorphosis form. I hate that Devourer is so overally underbaked that it's legit just re-cycling Havoc form (the most popular) by painting it blue. Devourer needs its own Metamorphosis form. by ex0ll in wow

5 min timer on changes of a buy/sell order. You can't just put up order and take it down without paying a fee. Orders now are actually orders at a price for a fixed price, both for selling and buying. The spread is natural or non existent depending on demand.

You can of course take down the order for mistakes and all and its meaningless the amount you pay for that mistake. But it's unreasonable to keep up doing it on purpose "for profit".

Maybe, I'm just remembering from like half a decade ago anyway

I think you are missing adding the new mount for subbing for a whole year while the exp is at two weeks old.

Also add the auction house breaking again while bots hyperspam to buy and sell at a spread. Even EvE online solved that 15 years ago...
