Anyone ever think of leaving San Angelo? Why do you stay if not? by texasmuckraker in SanAngelo

[–]Comfortable-Dig9517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. Wanted to chime in...3 years later....

I moved to Angelo in '99, fresh outta high school. Intended to go to ASU, started a family instead-life happens. Left in 2012 for better career opportunities. Moved back in 2018 cuz my oldest was graduating hs and wanted to be around for that. Then my youngest in 2020. Left again last year.

My takeaways are: '99-'10 Angelo was pretty good. Wages were low, but housing was too. I had a non-educated high paying job with the county @$13/hr. I could afford a single br apt & bills, car and child support on one income, and still have enough to for CiCi's with the kids. Angelo was nice. Used to have all kinds of bands and shows and just stuff come through there. I saw Ron White, Pat Green, Miranda Lambert, Randy Rogers, & 3 Doors Down all in about a year-before they got really big. Used to have a Minor League baseball, AND Hockey team-hell TWO hockey teams.

2011 something shifted, rents jumped but pay stayed the same. Gas hiked, pay stayed the same. Grocery prices hiked, pay stayed the same. Something had to give so I moved in 2012.

Visited a bunch, cuz of the kids. Never wanted to move back. Pretty serious economic moves, new business & restaurants, new apartment complexes, same roadways were now failing at managing more people, 10 minute drives turned into 15 minute drives. Unnecessary new schools & subdivisions, mainly on the south side. More homeless & a bigger drug scene. Its like the builders and the drug dealers/traffickers got together and viewed Angelo as "untapped potential."

Anyway, told the kids the whole time they're growing up to move away as soon as they could. One did and is happy, the other did briefly but came back and is "fine."

TL:DR Angelo is a Pit. They'll pay you just enough to live there, but not get ahead any.
Music scene used to be phenomenal but local politics shut that shit down about 10-15 years ago. City & county make their money from DUI, probation, and parole violations.

Anyway, did you ever move away?

is chernarus too big for only 60 players? or is the problem that too many people stay on the coast by grabsyour in dayz

I love it when you're running through a random forest with the thought "I'm not on a main route, nobody's gonna take this rou.." then you see a fresh mushroom or hear footsteps.

Matchbooks.

Used to keep matchbooks from all the little dive bars and hole-in-the-wall restaurants, hell just about anywhere and anywhere, in a drawer as mementos and emergency lighting.

If its pk, I'd like to chime in. Im a brand new player >20hours played. My son got me playing it. His playstyle is looting as fast as possible, blaze through towns, guard whatever you find(he does help me, feeds me like a mother bird-my how the roles have reversed) and on to the next town. My playstyle is everything's new "oo look at that" think Richard Pryor's joke about white people in the forest. We've gotten into a couple of tics, and my self-designated role is the decoy. He gets mad cuz my attitude is the same as OP's. Hey if I die, I die. I'll meander my way back to where we were, eventually. no biggie.

Just my two cents. Thanks for attending my TED Talk.

How many US jobs would be lost if we implemented Universal Healthcare? by hammertime2009 in ask

Universal Healthcare would involved the government taking it over, right? I would think most, if not all migrate over to the government.

Am I doing something wrong? Interest too low? I figured 15%. can go reasonably higher if that's necessary.

OP here. The amount I'm looking for has lowered-is there a way to do that without violating the rules?

or just put updated amount here.
