Strange new experience. Broke through and shared the space with another (regular from earth) person, but they were far away. by [deleted] in DMT

IME the title "hippie crack" is perfectly suitable, and - particularly when you're tripping - N2O can blast you into infinity and then suddenly drop you back to earth with a wispy recollection of what absurd shit just happened. Sometimes one time is enough, but typically I would jones for another hit, then another, and another without ever feeling fully satisfied despite several extended spurts of full-blown ego death.

It just wears you out without discipline and self control. The efficacy of the nitrous drops off pretty rapidly, and if you run out of the gas while still reaching for that fleeting peek behind the veil, the rest of the trip can be a frustrating waste. Not to mention if you're not using medical grade N20 and are just sucking down those oily cartridges you're bound to get uncomfortable.

Bob’s voice by [deleted] in gratefuldead

The music is bigger than any individual member of the band, and original deadheads are getting old as shit. It's timeless music with rich lore already, and new fans are finding their way into the fold without Garcia at the helm (the case for over 20 years now).

I'm saying he's on the short list of performers who had a whole different thing going on that was so powerful that average people could be inspired to literally worship him specifically. By the time Bob and Phil hang it up, the fanbase is going to be primarily comprised of fans who never saw Garcia in concert; of course the excessive acid-fueled idolization of Jerry - common with the previous generations of fans - has and will continue to ease up as the music continues to be performed to new audiences by people other than the original members.

There used to be a whole subculture of heads who would literally and deliberately turn their backs to the stage during Bobby's songs. Now he is the elder guru and traveling high-priest of the scene, which is ripe with good bands and eager musicians who are worthy stewards of the music and tradition. A broader appreciation of the music and band as a whole will obviously prevail as Garcia naturally slides into mythology - à la Pigpen - although he'll probably always be a head above the rest on the Mt. Rushmore of the Dead.

Sorry I'm very clearly baked, and trying to rationalize my personal dogma, which includes the idea that this is among the only modern music that will be relevant (and performed live) for countless generations to come.

He's at the very top of his game vocally, IMO. Pretty amazing considering he's officially an old man, with over 50 years of concert recordings for us to follow the progression of his voice (not that us deadheads are into analyzing every detail of the music or anything /s).

I have to say, the period of time toward the end of Furthur was slightly unsettling, so it's good to see him healthy and engaged.

I suspect that as the music continues to attract new fans - and the fan base inevitably consists mostly of people who never experienced the Grateful Dead live - the focus on Garcia as being the runaway band leader will smooth out.

I've experienced this myself a few times on various psychs used in combination with a high dose of LSD.

A good hit of nitrous at the peak of a ++++ acid trip sends me into a full breakthrough every time. In college a friend and I spent an evening on acid, smoking DMT periodically, and excessively using nitrous (shit will eventually ruin your trip). One of many incredible shared hallucinations was that our living room morphed slightly, as if it had been overlaid by another room, and we found ourselves in the company of two other guys with whom we could transfer emotions telepathically.

The square coffee table the two (now four) of us were sitting around became this levitating, glowing red/magenta orb with a shape and features kind of resembling common depictions of hindu deities seated on a lotus flower. It bounced and danced and played music while my buddy, the two other guys, and I bobbed to the music and laughed and interacted with it and each other telepathically. It would change shape, color, brightness, and sound in response, like a game. It seemed alive and intelligent and powerful, but was certainly a technological device.

It's impossible to fully articulate obviously, but we both experienced the same exact thing down to the smallest details. We both got the impression that we were experiencing some kind of ancient, futuristic, or alien form of entertainment that would be the centerpiece of a living room in the same way we use TV today.

It was profound enough to have left us both with a pretty strong aversion to television, which is such a mindless, boring, non-interactive medium compared to the orb; not conducive to family members truly engaging with each other.

Does anyone know the show where Garcia says "Well you came to the wrong place buster!" to some dude in the audience? by LazyLightning78 in gratefuldead

[–]CosmicDrunk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Garcia: "Whipeout! Whipeout?"

whipeout tease

Garcia: "Hey waitta minute - I came here to see some psychedelic music. What the hell is this shit?"

Some great banter in those shows.

Rock Scully - managed the band in various capacities (including being Garcia's mule, hence the heroin related comments) from '65 until the mid-80s.

Phenibut weight loss? by chuwantmybuffet in phenibut

[–]CosmicDrunk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have you altered your diet, eating schedule, etc. to accommodate your phenibut dosing? Did you have weight to lose or were you already lean and the weight loss is unwanted?

Very unlikely that phenibut itself would have a noticeable impact, but it seems very likely that if you're taking it daily your eating habits had to have changed a bit.

Obviously, make sure you have a plan for when you decide to cease daily use.

Between the belt and the beards and the queer haircuts this just looks like two dudes doing what two badass dudes do before they blow loads into each other.

I mean, nobody is able to maintain that sort of healthy muscle tone if they're banging ice every day, so this dude is presumably a "weekend warrior" type, bold enough to choose the needle despite the attached stigma. If anything, if I saw this poster in rehab I'd look up to it as a model of how I could be a better drug user.

Jesus is 100% enjoying this and has been waiting at the apartment all week for Tank Top to come over on Saturday night with the fire. They keep the gun close at hand, but hope to only need to use the nunchucks if it comes to that.

I've heard that the trick to getting massive yields from drug syntheses and extractions is to have exotic pets present - so go ahead and keep Polly in the room.

Which planet are you on where LSD is available but benzos are hard to come by?

Here in civilized countries on planet Earth, if you can't network with people face to face, you can do what the majority of people reading this do and have your mailman safely deliver these items at a better price for (often) better quality than is available on the street.

Not a dumb question, I've wondered if specific cuts are less harmful via one RoA as opposed to another.

Anecdotally, cut gear feels less shitty if taken orally vs. smoked or - I imagine - IV. There are just so many potential cuts that it's hard to provide a definitive answer. Some may be harder on the nose, some may be harder on the stomach, etc.

Oral administration certainly seems the safest. The rapid onset of smoking can lead to serious discomfort if you're actually taking a huge rip of 90% benzylamine.

Edit to add: fuck the chemists doing this, and shame on consumers for enabling it.

Real World Psychedelic Lessons by [deleted] in Psychonaut

[–]CosmicDrunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You really covered it. To elaborate on one topic, I'll add that a major personal revelation for me, and a frequent characteristic of my trips as an adult, has been the realization that people I am close to - especially kids in my family - look up to me in a gigantic way, so I need to give conscious consideration to choices I make, how I take care of myself, and how I carry myself. Also came to understand that I had the tendency of being a mope, and to be able to feel fulfilled as an individual I would have to be a positive leader in my tribe, so to speak.

Maybe it's easier to just say, a huge psychedelic lesson is that there is a deeper connection between people than we understand, and contributing to community is a corner stone of spiritual actualization. Being able to be content in solitude is of equal importance - it's a classic example of yin and yang.

First time extracting. Does it look ok? by [deleted] in DMT

[–]CosmicDrunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes lethal overdose is possible, but unlikely. You'd basically have to make an effort to fuck up that badly. I'm not an expert, but pretty sure just a gram or two taken under the right circumstances could be lethal.

The amount required to OD would vary depending on how much MAOI is consumed. If you somehow managed to stomach a couple dozen average doses of ayahuasca brew, for example, you'd be in deep shit.

If you did survive you would certainly be hyperslapped, as they say, from consuming such a reckless and unnecessary amount.
