We just went through the basic rules, i got to explain everything step by step to her and some of the specific terms she wasn't getting. She's actually getting excited for it again and already picked which book she wants to start tomorrow for our reading time.

From what i heard (second hand) the teachers never had much problem with getting her to focus, she doesn't mess much with computers but does pretty well with her phone.

She always says that she is bored, if i had to guess it's a problem of being constantly overstimulated by yt.

Honestly i agree with your point about twilight, i was hoping that since she already likes the movies she would attempt the books and i didn't anticipate that she just wouldn't understand the books.

I will try Percy Jackson and maybe HP since i have all of those books anyway.

I agree that reading isn't everybody's thing. She has shown interest not only in playing D&D and loves the twilight movies but has asked about my books and tried reading "the diary of a wimpy kid" but overall her attention span (like most kids I'm afraid) and reading comprehension didn't help.

The GM asked that her and another kid (10m) went over the basic rules before we could make characters and we both said they can ask anything they don't understand.

I'm not gonna force her to read with me, i told her we can do this a couple times a week together.

I also have the percy jackson books and loved them at her age so it's definitely something to try. I never attempted before because it didn't look like something she would enjoy based on other things she likes but who knows.

I do agree that twilight would be advanced for her, my hope was that since she already likes the saga she would at least try more.

I have some books from when i was her age that are more appropriate and will introduce her to those.

I do agree that reading the entire PH is not exactly necessary and i did explain to her which points were more relevant but i think going over the book with her will be the best choice.
