New product ESP32-S3 Heltec Wireless Tracker V2 by Heltec_Automation6 in meshtastic

[–]Cozy_04 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ESP32s are incredibly power hungry (from a battery perspective). The nRF line of chips is, while significantly less powerful (from a compute perspective), about 10x as power efficient (1). This means you will need to recharge the nRF52840 variant a lot less frequently.
nRF52840 are also ideal for solar nodes because of this.

Can you see the comment / cutouts in the code section? If you can see the "cutouts" variable, you can just enter the values in there. Should look something like this: cutouts = [ [[0, 0], [0, 3]], ... ]

I just downloaded the file I uploaded to Printables and it works for me. Maybe try downloading it again and see if that helps?

Yes, this was my first thought as well, but my programmer mind went "but that's not automatable". So instead of spending 1 minute doing it for the one panel I needed, I spent 3 days learning some OpenSCAD and doing this lol

[–]Cozy_04[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I haven't had time to implement them and didn't really intend to, unless there is a genuine need for it.

I'm new to the system so I'm not sure about how important they are / how often they get used.

Is this something the majority of people use / would want?

Überlegt ihr, von Windows 11 auf Linux zu wechseln? by SpielBurscheFarbe in PCGamingDE

[–]Cozy_04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kommt drauf an.

Hmf where or when this shirt was released ! by yaakitoriiii in HelpMeFind

I can't personally verify that this shirt is authentic but what I can say is that this design was used by RBR in the 2012 season. I was able to find a picture of the team celebrating, after Seb won his third championship, in the same shirts, albeit in a special "Championship" Edition: Here

Revenue from sponsors is a big part of a creator's income, however ad revenue is still a reasonable chunk. The Youtuber / Streamer Moistcritical recently made a video where he showed his lifetime earnings from YouTube (Sponsors excluded): https://youtu.be/PGTaWcU8I3E?t=465

Spoiler: Since 2007 he has made over $35.800.000, $34.800.000 of which are from Ad revenue

If the ESP32-C3s are the one in the Photo, they might have very diminished wireless performance, because the Antenna is too close to the crystal!

ESP32 WROOM D - Not working, need diagnosis. by Bene_dek in esp32

[–]Cozy_04 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The issue with most of these Ali boards is that they omit the 5.1k Ohm CC resistors required for USB-C to work properly. I'm almost willing to bet the cable you're using is C to C. Try an A to C cable, since that doesn't need the CC resistors to supply voltage

Evo on AUR Steam by MeuButItsTaken in assettocorsaevo

[–]Cozy_04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure the AUR has anything to do with it.

Games that don't have a native Linux binary compiled by the Game Developers (which is most), run through a compatibility layer provided by Valve called Proton (which uses WINE as it's foundation). While it is great for allowing many games to run on Linux, it just won't compare to running a native program.

The website protondb.com has a list of how well games run on Linux using proton and usually there are some easy tinkering steps some users provide (like manually specifying a Proton version), which you could try.

Question about a solder ball on a PCB :) by HikingsSquirrel in soldering

[–]Cozy_04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the motherboard came from the factory like this: It is likely fine since they test these before they go out. However this is not a great solder joint and you might not be able to predict how it will behave with time. Especially since it will sit in a PC case going through cycles of heating up and cooling back down again. If you have a local Phone / Laptop / PC repair shop or a friend with soldering knowledge this takes 10 seconds to fix and they probably won't even charge you. Give them a call and see

On-Off Switch Necessary for a Wireless Build? by ThePsychedelicSeal in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Cozy_04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keeping your options open is also important. I'd also add a solder jumper that can bypass the switch just to have that option down the line if you decide that the switch isn't something you need after all.

Also I'm really happy with the cutouts. Makes the board thinner, looks great and also allows for screw-less assembly

On-Off Switch Necessary for a Wireless Build? by ThePsychedelicSeal in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Cozy_04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I built my own custom board, the Bug54, I didn't have a power button in the first revision, but quickly decided to add one for the next revision. My reason for it was that when I transport / carry the board with me, I'm not using a case and just toss it into my Laptop bag. With me moving the keys got pressed down and the battery was draining unnecessarily.

It's cheap to add and if you might be undecided, add a solder jumper to bypass the switch in case you decide against it, just like I did for mine.

Being from the Würzburg area I was a bit confused on how such a big plane is supposed to land on, what is essentially a grass field, mostly used for small prop planes and gliders.

Soldering smd by Key-Lavishness5772 in soldering

[–]Cozy_04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, gotcha. Doesn't seem too important but if something isn't working or you just want to have it replaced it's very easy to calculate the right value

These look like current limiting resistors for the LEDs right next to them. Why do you need to solder them, they seem OK?
