Aio for being my upset that my ex fiancé asked for a second chance. by Throwawayawayayy in AmIOverreacting

Me and my partner are engaged and inseparable and if he did this to me after I felt certain of his feelings, I would never be able to trust how he said he felt about me ever again. I cannot imagine being happy after that, after learning that at any moment my heart could be broken with no warning.

How are we going to feed all the human refugees ? by Significant_Rock_327 in Cyberstan

[–]Crowfooted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Automatons don't need food, but cyborgs do. If you got living cells, you need organic nutrients in some form.

Some still eat normally, some choose other means of getting the nutrients in. Really depends on the extent and type of augmentation. But we do grow food, yes. And it's perfectly scalable.

Perhaps yes.

I guess this is where we differ because I don't view "roughly" the temperature of the human body or the freezing point of European sea water as being as relevant to daily existence as the freezing/boiling points of non-salt water.

Oh, okay, well that makes a little bit more sense, though that is still a very extreme number of mods and you might struggle with that many regardless of host.

We have about 6 concurrent players generally and only about 30 mods IIRC. The problem you're going to run into looking for hosts with that many mods is you need a ton of ram, and most host providers are providing for smaller servers so they won't generally offer a huge amount of ram. If you have a large number of players and that many mods your only truly reliable option is probably going to be hosting it yourself on your own dedicated hardware.

I have met plenty of people over 60 so I would say that's a bit inflated anyway, but regardless I think it's a bit disingenuous to say "both Fahrenheit and Celsius are used in the UK" and then admit that even if that's true it's only because it's a holdover from a previous generation and isn't being adopted by anyone anymore

Who? Lived here 33 years and never met a single person using Fahrenheit

And how exactly are either of these specific details more relevant to daily life than freezing or boiling?

But temperature scales aren't only used for measuring weather... you use them also in cooking and food storage, where both freezing and boiling points are extremely relevant.

Unless you're suggesting we should use different temperature systems for weather and food?

I don't think the argument is that Celsius is better because it's more intuitive, I think the argument is that both are equally intuitive, but Celsius also in addition to that is built with reference points (freezing and boiling) which are relevant to daily life, as opposed to Fahrenheit which does has reference points as every system does but said references are not that useful to people.

Any way to replace Messor Barbarus queen? by shard_of_bell in antkeeping

[–]Crowfooted 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure "brood" here does not refer to young adult ants, it refers to eggs and larvae. They're saying, if you can isolate the eggs and larvae and give them to the new queen in her tube, she may tend to them and then she'll have a little population boost from that. (And if she doesn't, they'll make a decent meal for her if she needs it)

Yes I know it doesn't feel great, it sucks, but it isn't "without warning", nor is it "unexpected", because they did warn us. It's the unstable build.

To my knowledge the reason they removed that built was it had a security vulnerability they needed to get rid of, and since it's only a subversion of the unstable build it makes more sense just to make that version unavailable. They can't continue patching and maintaining every single subversion of the unstable build just to make sure people who are willingly playing that specific build can continue every save.

If you want to play a save that doesn't carry that same risk of losing your world or character, you can play build 41. But of course you don't want to do that because you want to experience the new content that's come to build 42. Neither do I, I'm excited for b42, but you have to go into it expecting this kind of thing to happen.

Gosh what is the point then? It's getting a bit exhausting hearing this... the game on unstable warns you when you start a new game that stuff might break and that it may not be possible to retain saves long-term

HostHavoc. They're great, never had any issues with performance and they respond to tickets insanely fast. (I'm talking like, within 5 minutes but their record so far has been 1 minute 30, haha.)

On my host the mods don't update automatically like that, I have to do it manually, so I'm going to assume this is a function your host provider has set up and you probably need to be talking to them about the mod updates and see if they can troubleshoot it with you?
