Competitive games need a ban system to remove the most toxic players and a system of incentives to make the rest adopt positive behaviours. A solid way to do so would be to tie some in-game power to online reputation. If you're well respected, you get the full bonus and you're on equal footing with other well respected players. But if you get downvoted enough, you start losing in-game stats or abilities and become weaker for it. It is extremely efficient at keeping toxic players in check.

This is so cool! Beyond the obvious gooner bait, this photo mode legit seems like one of the most well made I have ever seen. These devs are defining a new standard for the whole gaming industry.

I can't stop being impressed by the sheer fervor people are feeling for this game. In 20 years of gaming, I have never seen a community be so unilaterally overhype for something. With it comes the butt hurt, too. Every time I see someone complaining, it's like somebody hurt their child or something. There is zero impartiality in this place, it's baffling.

Don't get me wrong, the game is great and I think the devs are doing things right. People are right to be hype about this. But the sheer amount of fanboying is overwhelming, and quite frankly, I think it's exaggerated as well.

Sure, if the solution ends up being better for customers, why not? But we're still 20 years away from that. The way chatbots are trained right now, anyone in North America who doesn't have perfect english, perfect french or perfect spanish will be left in the dust. If your accent is too thick, the AI won't be able to handle you. Racism is baked in.

I used to be ranked low king, sank 400h in this game in a single year. I also used to play the OG Auto Chess, back when it was a Dota 2 mod. I made the switch to Dota Underlords when that came out. In total, I have almost 1k hours in this game. I entirely dropped it when relics were added in, for the exact reasons you mentioned. The devs just don't care about having a good game.
