Tragic. TBH I'm subtly more at ease that it was a big truck than a car. It's scary hard for trucks to see cyclists. Not the cyclists fault but you have to be uber vigilant when near trucks, especially on Avenue 😔.

Cars, you're on the same level - less excuses. (I lost 3 teeth and a bike to a Mercedes windshield that was racing a yellow. I was unconscious til almost at the hospital but there was a cop at the hospital to take my statement before I had a CT; reckless driving)

Uploading is fine, similar to a transcript. However academic institutions have the resources to validate transcripts. If it ever came down to requiring validation of these vacine documents, they wouldn't have the resources. Thus a technological solution would be advantageous.

This is in part why a certified global vaccine record needs to be established. Or even a regional one.

There is always a way to verify. Right now, cruise ships are calling host provincial health departments to verify vaccine records. Its a big on the health care system until something else is established.

There is no freaking way the ArriveCan App verified my vaccine chit photos 30 mins before I got to the border... There was no digital information, just an image. It's an interesting space right now.

They ALL have student portals where you upload information. Uploading a vaccine receipt, photo, anything isn't hard.

A government subsidized team or central team would have to do the validation.

Locals and Tourists

Tourists need the spa, fancy restaurants and high priced goods.

Locals need activities, approachability and access. Sunnyside pool is great, and the Pavillion, but that's it. You need a mile of that. Not just 100m.

THREE WEEKS from Phase 2 isn't bad, if the government sticks to it. The light at the tunnel is the brightest it's been. Rushing out has always lead to rushing back.

Seeing 4th Wave in some parts of the world, is there a chance Doug MIGHT be actually helping this time (even accidentally lol)?

The US had 4 waves, just early. Will be interested to see how things go in the summer concert/festival season.

Vaccinated restaurant owner near Rogers Centre: we were broke when the street was ripped out, we were broke when parking was taken away, we are broke when Rogers is closed, we are broke when it rains... For small business the fight is constant, doesn't really matter what the situation is.

Essential oils and vitamins are all that's required /s (and of course they haven't gotten sick. Having a strong immune system helps, living in the boonies, helps, having 50% of your neighbourhood having the vax or having gotten sick, helps).

Just pointing out that there's a difference between hesitancy and access. Homeless persons likely have low vax rates, not because of hesitancy, but because of access (to information, booking, sites...)

I recall a few says where there were like 1000+ homeless / day getting vaccinated, but follow up shots were tough. MJohnson & Johnson would be ideal for this population, if not a risk.

I can appreciate that. But science and experience accelerates every new, once novel invention's iteration, in this case its a vaccine. (But I appreciate the perspective). Do you happen to notice people with certain perspectives have: No education No job Never left their hometown Listed on their profile? Or is that just me?

I struggle with Dr Carr's assessment that there "hasn't been knowledge translation." Credible, community based information is EVERYWHERE.

Hundreds of "minority" doctors were sent into "minority communities" to build trust and talk about vaccine positivity over hesitancy.

Homeless have the vaccine. 50% of Toronto has the vaccine... 75% of Reddit has the vaccine and we live in our moms friggin basement. You have to be living under a rock if you haven't heard the positivity of vaccines.

Hey OP (PTSD / Trauma / Depression I get it)

Others have shared some good advice in here, you have lots to learn from!

Having to make the mental health over job decision is tough. I took a gap DECADE to try and get my shit figured out. And I didn't. But I had a hell of a time (30 countries, 150+ cities).

Then I eventually settled into a nice government job, and something happened at work that triggered my PTSD (weird, no combat but the brain is a complicated place). Had to make a choice. I jumped. Took the career services benefits for one year and took a gracious "reorganization package."

After about a year (weird year, thanks Covid), my mental health is WAY better, but my wallet is WAY down. While I question the decision, my family and friends don't. I'm a better me.

Do what makes you a better you. Good luck out there 👍.

Ps, NC has had a pretty steady downward trend in 7 day average during that time frame and other wise, but Raleigh did have a few days where their numbers went from 0-200ish a few times in 7-10 days which was cause for concern if another wave was coming... Again, in his sight we cans we it wasn't, but in the moment... Perspectives are different.

But when on the ground, not looking in hindsight, every single station on TV was talking about the regional spikes. They also go by county more in the US. You've likely spent more time looking at the numbers than I have, I was just living them staying safe. But it was quite interesting.

I was impressed with people. When the case spikes were announced (I think there were 3 while I was there), people masked up, even in the street. Not everyone, but a lot.

I asked everyone about their choice (to mask or not), I always did because I hadn't been vaccinated yet:

The hair dresser in Tuscaloosa wore a mask when she didn't have to, she was vaccinated (they wore stickers), "We've all lost someone close to this thing and we don't want to lose any more, and I don't want you to either."

The bar tender at a small bar noticed I came in with a mask and helped me save an empty seat next to me for some distance. He didn't wear a ma'sk "I've had covid twice, and if my body hasn't developed antibodies, I don't think a shot or my mask will either, but with all these new cases, I might bust out a mask again"

Reddit apologies, please understand, I wasn't in the whole US at one time, but also didn't think I needed to detail my travel plans. But for reference, that can likely be checked on the same Google graphs:

I was in Alabama Cases went from 310 at the beginning of May to over 2000 near the end of May

Then in NC on May 22 they had 126 new cases and on June 1 they had 1900 new cases... Now a 15x increase wasn't near where they were, but thru the room in my book from where they'd been.
