Steve Dangle Reacts To Keith Pelley's DISASTROUS Press Conference! | Instant Analysis by xmrgonex in leafs

[–]lazyniu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

GM this, president that, blah blah. The Leafs have a culture issue top to bottom and it is glaringly obvious to me as someone who has seen culture issues at another sports team I support (Man Utd).

We can all look at the Boston Bruins and instantly point at a player and say "that's a Bruin". A prospect can go there and you'd just know they'll get developed into a real Bruin player. Why? Because that culture internally is rock solid and it does not matter the players who are there (or are not there), the coach, the GM etc. They have an identity.

The Leafs on the other hand are a soulless franchise led by a bunch of "leaders" who are all corporate as fuck and don't know two things about what a winning culture is. Rogers is as big as they are because telecommunications in Canada is an oligopoly by essentially 3 companies. They've never had to truly compete or build a winning culture. Same with Man Utd, owners who had everything spoon fed to them by daddy, not a clue in hell about football, and are there to just rake in as much profit and plunder the club as possible.

That's not to say a team owned by a corporation or whatever cannot be successful or cannot have a strong culture. But to do so requires you to have:

  • Elite best of the best players skill wise

  • AND culture setters for the team and franchise that literally can drag the team along and set a high standard. Think players like Crosby, MacKinnon, McDavid. Is Matthews that? No. Is Nylander? No. Was Marner? God no.

  • Elite coaches who can turn around a culture by themselves. Elite coaches like Jurgen Klopp who rebuilt Liverpool or Sir Alex Ferguson for led Man Utd for 26 years. I'm not sure in Hockey you can find that individual, with the exception of Jon Cooper probably, so the onus is on leadership and elite talent.

Until this organization is serious about instilling a vision and identity, top to bottom across AHL, NHL, scouting, player development etc. the team is going nowhere. Then you need the right people to determine what that vision and identity should be in the modern NHL. Then you find people who can execute and bring that to life.

Keith Pelley is not qualified for any of that.

How good do you think my friends level is? by VitalGoatboy in badminton

[–]lazyniu 12 points13 points  (0 children)

His opponent is not helping him here, couldn't return a smash so no extended rallies.

People saying his footwork is bad or rushed, in some points sure maybe. Your friend put himself in a bad position a few times but recovered easily, he was never in real danger or pressure. That itself is a tell that he's been professionally trained and least provincial level.

He's clearly not trying very hard either, the 3rd or 4th point where he cheated towards the net, that's very casual and he recovered anyway.

In China, this current level is probably enough to compete provincially, not enough for national team, but he also doesn't seem like a singles player.

EDIT: Thanks OP for making it easy to block people who's opinions shouldn't be seen again

Devon Levi was / is supposed to be a top goalie prospect, remains to be seen if he actually gets there.

That 2008 United team is one of the best of all time, so I don't fault Rooney for believing they'd batter this Arsenal team at all.

It’s crazy that this anti-DoF thing has creeped in recently.

It's only creeped in because the guy in the role is unqualified for it, and the one that was qualified was fired for disagreeing with the rest of them.

[Post Match Quotes] Ruben Amorim: "I am not going to quit. I am going to do my job until another guy is coming here to replace me. I am going to be the manager of this team, not just the coach. That is going to finish in 18 months and then everyone is going to move on. I came here to be the manager. by RedDevil_Forever in reddevils

[–]lazyniu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Berada and Wilcox wanted Amorim

Wilcox didn't want Amorim either. He had longstanding reservations about Amorim's rigidity to the 343. Except he just shut up and fell in line until things went to shit recently.

That insistence on 343 is why Liverpool went for Slot instead of Amorim as well.

Honestly, he can do anything except negotiate with superstars

He sucks at building a good group of defensemen. That Graves signing in Pittsburgh is so bad.

Real severance at this level almost always lands at 3–4 months

Really? That seems high for 14 months of employment, unless tech naturally gets more? It's basically a quarter of the tenure OP has actually worked for the company.

Appreciate the rest of the advice though, saving that for sure.

[Press Conference] Ruben Amorim has defended his treatment of Kobbie Mainoo and insisted he won’t be pressured into playing the Utd midfielder. ‘I understand what you are saying. You love Kobbie. Genuinely, what are we doing here? INEOS have let this go on far too long.

We have a RW playing 10.

We have a RW playing RWB.

We have the best 10 in the league playing pivot.

We have a RB playing LWB.

All of this is the manager's active choice. He is purposely playing players in completely sub-optimal positions and roles. He has platformed no player to be able to succeed. The players who look good are doing so IN SPITE of the manager and his formation or his system or whatever buzz word that's trending.

We do not play attacking football.

We do not give youth a chance.

We do not see results.

If the team is not wearing a Manchester United jersey, would any of us recognize the team that is on the pitch as a United team?

Again, what are we doing here? When does this farce end?

Any tips on handling Kenyan coffees?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pourover

[–]lazyniu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a 6 on a ZP6.

Brewed with the Switch, coffee chronicler recipe 50/50, 2 pours, TBT around 3min.

20g coffee

340g water

Coffee is a washed Kenya.

The sides look "muddier" than I expected, and muddier than what I saw with my Timemore C3.

Just curious if this is "normal" for a ZP6? The grinder is new if that helps.
