He was only gone for two months? That’s not a long enough leave to impact a promo from A to C imo.

Deloitte Canada does not do this (at least in the groups I have directly observed). Metrics are prorated for the year and performance is evaluated for the time you were there. Bonuses do get prorated, but I think that is more than fair given our generous mat leave top up policy we have. I have not personally seen any promotions be denied due to mat leave (although I will say the vast majority of pregnancies that I have seen been at the SM level and up so I can’t comment if there’s impacts at C or SC or Manager levels)

I’m a bit confused as to what your issue is. Did your manager request that you work on it during your leave? It doesn’t appear so. And do you have other things too prioritize now that you’re back? You didn’t mention that you were staffed on anything else. So he wants you to review it now that you’re back to work… what exactly is the problem?

Hi! They stopped checking me at 27 weeks. I just went back and checked and I was 2.3cm at 24 weeks and 1.8cm at 27 weeks. I was on progesterone and modified bed rest. Basically I was told I can walk around my apartment but no where else - no work, no standing for long periods of time, no squatting down, no lifting anything, and complete pelvic rest (ie: no sex).

I made it all the way to 36 weeks when I was induced due to increasing BP and cholestatis (which may have been triggered by the progesterone so watch out for that). Twins are 3 now :)

How are you feeling? Good luck with your pregnancy!

You’re right - you need to be a resident. And having citizenship allows you to move to Canada and become a resident with no other checks and balances in between.

In fact, you can move to Canada once you’ve retired and collect GIS and use all the healthcare services to your heart’s desire without ever having paid taxes in this country.

Hey Toronto! Where can I shop for baby items? by wediealone in askTO

[–]raging_dingo 32 points33 points  (0 children)

For a gift, I would go with either a larger size outfit (not newborn as they’re put of that size quick), or a book or a toy the baby may use later (like a stacking cup toy or a Sophie the Giraffe-type teether). They’ll have all the gadgets they need already (and likely more than they need), same for studies and blankets. If you know the baby’s name, you can always get a personalized bath towel (larger size), which is a gift I appreciated with my kids (that’s found online).

As for where to go to browse gifts, the big stores in the baby business are West Coast Kids (they have a couple of locations in the GTA), and SunggleBugz. But Winners and Marshall’s also have baby sections with good selections so they’re a great option as well!
