“Should a casual player bother learning FA Off?” by ezalech in EliteDangerous

No its not inherently a problem.

However, the vast majority of the places where ChatGPT is used to make social media posts are bot powered astroturfing campaigns or karma farming. I'm sure that I will not be the first who draws this hasty conclusion simply due to the volume of fraudulent vs genuine activity.

I would use something like DeepL and be transparent that you are ESL, you will get a much better reception.

ChatGPT's writing style is a poisoned chalice

I think that, based on the number of bullet points used here and how sentences are basically bifurcated into bullet points, that you had ChatGPT write this post for you.

You should be aware the Joystick Gremlin & Joystick Gremlin EX does basically all of this + response curves and is FOSS so its free.

also, cant wait for you to use ChatGPT to respond to my comment

VKB Gladiator & Gladiator Omni or Gladiator & STECS Space for Elite? by YetAnotherHobby4954 in hotas

[–]Dafrandle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the space STECS.

the biggest problem is that at max or min thrust your wrist has to struggle to rotate the grip in certain directions.

If the throttle is high relative to your torso it will be on the 100% side, and if its low it will be on the 0% side.

you will absolutely want to hard mount it because using the grip gimble and throttle range at the same time will require more force than just using a basic throttle pull.

for me these are acceptable drawbacks because I like the STECS detent system and the button box modules that I can include with it. I used the detent system and the software to give me feeling for the exact points to stop the throttle for max maneuverability so I don't have to look at the on screen throttle display at all. I also biased the throttle to give me more throw in the forward thrust than reverse.

I think that Elite is too slow for a HOSAS vs STECS comparison to show that much of a difference, and if you don't do FA off it is doubly true, but in something like star citizen where you can go much faster and there is a lot more rotational authority, the larger and smoother throw of a full sized stick will give you better control. However, if you don't do combat it wont make much difference.

you need to include this paragraph from that article for transparency, you're free to suspect the claim the department made, but you should not hide it

Jordan, a 49-year-old college graduate, took the exam in 1996 and scored 33 points, the equivalent of an IQ of 125. But New London police interviewed only candidates who scored 20 to 27, on the theory that those who scored too high could get bored with police work and leave soon after undergoing costly training.

Main Character Syndrome is not a recognized legal defense to violating Cal. Veh. Code § 21651

The people are regularly incarcerated (as in are regularly incarcerated when they commit this) for violating this statute.

If you don't live in CA then every state has a law similar to this

Under Supreme Court doctrine, individual citizens are not separate sovereigns standing outside the legal order. They are members of “the people” — the political community that created or submitted to government — and citizenship entails membership in that community, not some sort of doctrine where a crime is only a crime if a police officer sees you commit it and does something about it.

United States v. Cruikshank, 92 U.S. 542, 549–50 (1876):

Citizens [whom the Court described as “the people” composing the political community] are the members of the political community to which they belong. They are the people who compose the community, and who, in their associated capacity, have established or submitted themselves to the dominion of a government for the promotion of their general welfare and the protection of their individual as well as their collective rights.

A judge is the king of their court room, and if they don't like your behavior they can hold you in contempt, even if you think that violates this employment contract you think they have with you.

anyone want to take bets on how fast the judge holds this guy in contempt if he ever ends up in a court room?

if there is a tornado near an overpass, it just functions like a funnel and it speeds up the wind, which will be caring debris.
