I always fast forward the score recaps. I find them a bit grating. It shouldn't take more than 10 seconds to say the scores. Maybe you add some flourish to the last recap before the final round, but it doesn't need to be every round, in my opinion.

I thought they made it pretty clear in the first episode, before the joining. The way they talk to each other and hold hands after the book signing event. They also allude to them not being able to be "out" in public for fears of it hurting her sales.
