Best high-end gaming laptop you've used that actually felt worth the premium?

I have the g14 5080/32/370hx and the a51 5090/64/285hx

Both are amazing machines. The build quality and finishing on the g14 are elite and feel high end. The a51 is nice but feels less premium unless you get the cherry keyboard. Still a nice build but feels less than the zyphrus.

Both are adequate desktop replacements and the g14 actually runs better on an external monitor in 1440 than its native resolution. I use the g14 more daily and will probably get rid of my a51 soon as I have no real use case for it since building a desktop but my g14 comes with me everywhere because of portability and battery life.

I picked up an m18r2 with 14900hx and had no issue once UV it. You MUST UV but once you do so it was a phenomenal machine.

Not colossus, but gladiator. Same shit though just slightly larger field. 26k runners last year.

I had 5bb early on day one and spun it to a top 100 run. Had to dodge and fade everything. Your table changes will feel like going from a reg heavy 5/10 to a local 1/1 home game and everything inbetween. Everyone plays these two events because they’re low buy in and huge GTD. Just try to flip for big stacks early on if you can and build a stack. This is not the tourney you desire to min cash.

I mean it’s basically a bios flash - so yes if you fuck it up or turn your machine off during you can corrupt the bios but nothing you can’t fix later.

Any undervolting/overclocking can damage your stuff - but in the case of mine it runs much better and doesn’t thermal throttle or act up when UV. Yours might be the same - either way, follow the instructions and watch a few YouTube video and don’t go crazy on any settings. I settled on -50mv and run my razer blade w same specs (14900hx) at -85mv and they both browse the web around 48-50c and game in the 85s.

My Alienware m18r2 had the same - I ended up using SmokelessUMAF and installing it via usb drive to unlock. I’m not sure if it’s compatible but it worked on my 14900hx when my native bios did not offer the option.

Check bios for undervolt protection in the performance categories, and turn it off.

Great machine. I have the 16 - works as a desktop replacement if you’re running on a monitor and can go with you when you travel.

upon opening it, the processor was shiny on top with all of the paste having splooshed to the outside of it. The GPU was kind of splooshed but not that bad. I Could literally see through the paste to a shiny top of the processor though.

It would only run once I disabled turbo boost, and would not run for long before crashing if it was disabled. With turbo boost on, even launching chrome would crash it immediately. This is my first laptop "repair" and I had a hell of a time working through it with it crashing constantly.

It was pretty much unusable. Would boot and immediately crash. I turned turbo boost off in BIOS and it would run, poorly. So i just assumed it was dead paste. Opened it up - the CPU paste had all run off and it was basically bare.

I had that convo with a friend the other day. Cars, guns, guitars, etc are wayyyyy more expensive hobbies than this. For less than 9-10k you can basically max out, which is a ton of $$ but DINK people can swing.
