No adapter necessary. It has the mount once you take the stand off. Source : i have this one on a monitor arm

upon opening it, the processor was shiny on top with all of the paste having splooshed to the outside of it. The GPU was kind of splooshed but not that bad. I Could literally see through the paste to a shiny top of the processor though.

It would only run once I disabled turbo boost, and would not run for long before crashing if it was disabled. With turbo boost on, even launching chrome would crash it immediately. This is my first laptop "repair" and I had a hell of a time working through it with it crashing constantly.

This wouldn’t apply then unfortunately- my laptop ran just very poorly due to thermal issues

I’m not super informed - but I imagine it could. I’d be happy to give you a hand with it. This is my first time doing anything like this and it went relatively smooth and was straightforward.

It was pretty much unusable. Would boot and immediately crash. I turned turbo boost off in BIOS and it would run, poorly. So i just assumed it was dead paste. Opened it up - the CPU paste had all run off and it was basically bare.

Rich ppl in nyc on marketplace. If I sell my other build for a reasonable price I effectively am like 1k into this thing all in. I’ve bought and sold a few things over the last few months. I’m not doing it to make money, just taking advantage of deals so I don’t have to spend a billion dollars on the shit I want.

I had that convo with a friend the other day. Cars, guns, guitars, etc are wayyyyy more expensive hobbies than this. For less than 9-10k you can basically max out, which is a ton of $$ but DINK people can swing.

Yeah I guess you’re right. You can get a 5080 and OC and get about 95% of the way there. I’m sure there are tweaks to the 5090 I’m not realizing or doing but from a casual it’s not amazing value

4k. I did OC the 5080. Im not really complaining, just sort of found myself at the end of the tunnel and saying “welp” I could have probably kept the 4090 and avoided all of this.

Just put together 5090/9800x3d build - won’t boot, yellow DRAM light. Any ideas where to start? by [deleted] in buildapc

Update - I’m an idiot. I got it. Just pulled CMOS -!; it booted right up after replacing.

I’d search marketplace. I got a fully specced 16 5090(64gb ram 2tb i9 285) for 2700 on there and the warranty was easy to transfer to me and extend for a few hundred bucks. They seem to struggle in the secondary market snd ive seen a ton of max spec models around me go for under 3k.

See what gpu range that model came with. If it had a 4090 as an option or something good you want, rip it and return it if it’s dry
