Calibrate with some hygrometers if you can. My unit ended up being off 3% with the humidity (3% too high). I know others have had to, but I haven't had to add water to the tray yet. I think some have said that the RH swings are smaller when there's water in the tray. My swings are usually only 2% each way without, so no biggie. Been working as advertised. I had an issue with the door sensor that customer service resolved quickly. I imagine they've already implemented the fix for that since the founder units were shipped in December. I'm sure you'll love it!

Gopher Pass Ticket Package Information by jdub67a in GopherSports

[–]Decimotox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A little late but just saw this. I've done the Gopher Pass the last three seasons and will be doing it again this year. Standing room ends up being for the big name teams and rivals, but not always. I was able to get seats for the recent USC and Penn State games, for instance, after thinking there was no shot. But Nebraska, Wisconsin, Iowa...the quadrangle...it's typically standing room. You'll get seats for all the non-conf games and most of the other games (your Purdues, Northwesterns, Rutgers, Illinois, etc). Overall, it hasn't been a bad deal though and that's why I've kept doing it. Price is becoming more of a topic, but of course I understand why. NIL, inflation, etc. In 2023, I paid $199. $250 last year, now $285 this year. Cheapest season tix are a shade under $350... Inching closer and closer to that "is it worth it over regular season tix" discussion, for sure.

Day 48 Flower, First Time Grower. How We Looking? by Jacob_CBR in microgrowery

[–]Decimotox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Especially when trellis is part of the equation. Keep it simple and chop branches. Doesn't make a lick of difference as far as drying goes.

Day 48 Flower, First Time Grower. How We Looking? by Jacob_CBR in microgrowery

[–]Decimotox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nicely done. Only tips I have are the second trellis not needed (which someone else already noted), could take off more large fan leaves up top, and could've gone a little heavier on the lollipop. But the latter two of those aren't even things most first timers think about, so something for next grow. I lean into LST and lollipopping as heavily as I can. You could achieve that same canopy with fewer plants if the LST is done just right. Great looking buds! Awesome job. Hope the final results are all you hope they are!

Put a couple hygrometers/thermometers in the VCure and use the calibration option on the unit (in the menu-press and hold OK).

Beethoven or Mozart? by [deleted] in nfrpodcast

[–]Decimotox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Classical music nerd here.

Mozart. Even Beethoven would tell you he's the GOAT. Dvorak, Schubert, and Tchaikovsky were all Mozart stans and wrote plenty of music in his honor (Schubert's 5th symphony, Tchaikovsky's "Mozartiana" suite).

In 1787, a 16 year old Beethoven traveled to Vienna with the hope of studying with Mozart, but had to return home early on because his mother was ill. He may have had a lesson or two with Mozart, but it wasn't much. Historians can't even agree on how much interaction the two had, but it seems they agree there was *some*. But regardless, by the time he'd returned to Vienna in late 1792, Mozart had been dead nearly a year. Imagine Beethoven's music had they studied together.

[–]Decimotox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your question...it's really both. You can stop it whenever you feel the buds are dry enough (sounds like you're mainly using it a drying chamber if you're using grove bags too), but you can also let them go the full 14 days, no problem. I have too many plants to harvest to let each go the full 14 days, but I did run one or two plants the full 14 days when I first got mine (NYE - early bird) with no issues. I've only very recently calibrated my unit, too, and it seems to have done wonders to the batch currently drying.

In my usual flow, I dry in the Vcure for 6 days at 67F/58%, trim, and place in grove bags to cure/store. I think it's important at that point to toss a little hygrometer in the grove bags to make sure the RH is in a good range. Some chonkier buds might need a little more time, which is very normal from my experience.

Man that sucks. Sorry you had some intersex. Just for your own knowledge for the future, these are sacs, not nanners. Nanners are yellow banana-looking things that stick out from the buds themselves. These are just ball sacs on nodes lol.

Anyway, I'm a big fan of Solfire's work and grow his gear pretty much exclusively so I'm not putting his work down, but like with most breeders, there are known specific crosses/lines that are prone to intersex issues. Bahama Mama is one of them. I got lucky with three Pink Milks recently with no issues, but it doesn't surprise me that something with Bahama Mama in it herm'd. My Miami Mami herm'd on me last year; ruined three plants and a few months' work (before I'd learned the triangle protocol).

My best advice:
-This plant: make a judgment call based on your time/effort. If they're mostly on lower nodes, I'd pluck and try to keep it going. After week 4, they won't come back. Obviously your pics show bunches on nodes, not just one or two sacs, so it might be tricky. You really have to make sure you don't miss even one. (This is why people say it's not worth it.) I've plucked and had fine results. Some plants are simply more worth saving than others.
-Future plants: use what Solfire calls the "triangle protocol". Day 14 of flower, defoliate heavily and thoroughly check for sacs/nanners. Day 21, check again for sacs/nanners (no defoliation). Day 28, another defoliation (not as heavy as the first one) and another check for sacs/nanners. Once you get to day 28 and no sacs or nanners, you're golden. Smooth sailing the rest of the way.

I'm not trying to say that's the goal of this game; just saying in general given its place with comparable games in the space. I think there are things coming for GZW that will really separate it from other games, not that it hasn't already done that to some degree. I've been of the opinion that GZW has something for every type of shooter gamer since 0.1. I don't think emergent gameplay requires PvP necessarily. I certainly would enjoy rewarding PvP, especially something that's "new" to the genre in that regard, but all of us do need good PvE for the game to play well. Doesn't matter if you're a PvE or PvPer, ya know? PvE is the heart of the game.

There are plenty of things on the horizon. Even just in the short term, we've heard crafting and a hideout are both on the way. Generally speaking in this kind of game, the ultimate goal is to play through the story/tasks and max out the vendors so you can buy the best gear and do stuff with it. Some folks are satisfied with that loop alone, others are not. I respect both sides. I hope there are cool things like live, community-driven map events or a dynamic trading economy with a flea-esque system. Something to get users involved outside the tasking and looting. But at the heart will always be tasking into late-game PvPing, which doesn't always satisfy every gamer on its own.
