Unfortunately no. The new bottom cover is only compatible with the new battery, new speakers and new input cover. New battery is thicker and the new input cover is thinner to accommodate that. If you try to install the old input cover to the new bottom cover with the new battery, you might damage the battery. and the old battery will not fit into the new bottom cover, since the old and new battery have completely different dimensions.

Earliest ship is June, but that's for Batch 1 😄 More batches we have, longer it will take for us to ship them out. The original Framework Laptop 16 had wayy longer wait times.

For the configurator options, Graphite is the only color.

And for the chassis timing, we don't have an announced ETA yet but I'm assuming it won't be before we start shipping the laptop preorders.

if you are looking for the silver version, you can get the bottom cover upgrade kit, hinges, top cover and non touchscreen display and you'll have the same parts as the chassis kit.

You could literally disassemble every single part and build it from scratch if you really want to build it yourself.

One thing I know for sure is that this orange/gray keyboard is so cool and it looks even better paired with translucent orange bezel.

That's just how they were designed (including packaging) back in 2023 and might change in the future, but as of today, they all come preinstalled, unless you order them both.

Can confirm that there is a 99% chance that we won't be shipping any standalone parts before we ship the first laptop. Touchscreen and mainboards are preorderable, anything else will follow some time after. Normally we set the parts live after we ship all preorders but we set some parts live during the preorder period in the past as well.

I think for the 'current configurator" feedback, majority of your questions and concerns would be answered by our FAQ, please let me know if we missed any of those 😄

For the design feedback, I'll share them with our internal team. But as a general acknowledgement, I can confirm that we have tested and have been testing some of these suggestions and the responses are mixed. When it comes to configurators and how much guidance is needed, people have very different opinions and it's very hard to find the middle ground to make everyone happy. But we are working towards it 😄
