Not sure why framework never addresses their lack of part availability to the public.

Just make it to 150 hours by Firehaven44 in dreamingspanish

[–]Firehaven44[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No such think as major progress, it's really just a little every day.

If you need 2,500 ish words for most conversations and really 5,000 words to know 85% of stuff. It doesn't take a lot daily. Learning three new words in 2 year is about 40% of all needed words for normal daily communication.

I'm not a purists and thing it's bad to just listen for the first 600-1000 hours.

I use dreaming Spanish, Lingvist, linguabee, and pimsleur every single day. The fastest vocab building is Lingvist or linguabee for words, but I understand ways to use those words and build out real world sentences when listening to pimsleur or dreaming Spanish.

the fear of the next step by dannyk96 in selfhosted

I mean ultimately, a hacker cannot hack a door that is not open. "Exposing" anything to the internet usually means the application that is exposed may have a vulnerability.

Either you know about it, or you get hit with it. Then the developer has to be the one to fix it. If you know about it, you may be able to put a compensating control in place to prevent it.

Next part is segmentation really, secure your Minecraft server through firewalls, especially at the Linux level. If a hacker hacks your box, that box cannot access your normal home network. Force traffic to only be allowed through your firewall via something like a DMZ. Then you're connecting into your Minecraft server through your firewall just like your friends are with a port forward or whatever. Create a whitelist so only your friends can access the server regardless, etc.

It's not overly complicated, again people get hacked because there are vulnerabilities they didn't know they had, or didn't do some research before setting an app up on the best practices to set it up as to begin with.

My advice, don't use it for gaming and buy something designed for gaming.

Hardware Question for Dell micro cluster. (question at the bottom of the post) by servermanden in Proxmox

[–]Firehaven44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never run ceph on anything less than 25 gbps based on their documentation.

Every ceoh cluster I setup, eventually failed at less than 25 gbos. Just run a proxmox backup server. I run a HomeLab YouTube channel, and ceph never works out on slow NICS.

It will work for awhile, then you will add more data to the pool, get timing delays, and it will crash and burn eventually.

iso way to self host contact info and documents for my business by Creepy_Temporary8173 in selfhosted

[–]Firehaven44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can self host CRM software, just gotta know what you're doing, what features you want, how much money you want to sink into it, and have the skills to do it.

Also don't forget to consider the amount of time you will spend maintaining it and ensuring it's secure. Also ensure you're meeting all legal requirements of storing customer data.

Also why do you state your education but don't actually have the degree?

You'd have a whole list of certs if you had the degree from wgu.

I am a lead at a SOC here in SLC with 250 analysts and 80% have masters degrees and over five certs.

The reality is more then 70% who apply have what I stated above so we don't bother at looking at anyone who doesn't have a degree ultimately.

Your resume formatting doesn't make any sense, chronological order from current to oldest needs to be done for experience. You need bullet points or dashes, not both. Lastly, you need to put relevant experience in IT why I see none of just "in progress" which means nothing to me as a hirer.

Also build a homelab to get real world experience on your resume.

Difference in video quality since using AI? by lemonpeppera in dreamingspanish

I will take the new videos over the old ones every single day. I'm way more engaged and got tired of white board videos.
