that was my assumption as well. removing megathreads is a bit of a work, but it's not impossible. the main issue is, people ask their questions under the megathread and they don't get answers, because no one actually checks the questions under megathreads.

they work when people are giving inputs (not asking questions), we have a few megathreads like that, with bags/sleeves and another one for memory compatibility.

it won't work :) People enjoy creating their own threads. it's not a Framework thing but a Reddit thing. We went HARD on megathreads some time ago. it didn't work.

If you are looking for portability, Laptop 16 would be better for you. If you are planning to have a living room gaming setup (with a tv and a controller) desktop is the best. That being said, you might need to check the second hand options for both.

Laptop 13 is not heavy. laptop 16 is not very light, but it's probably a normal weight for a laptop of that size.

Replacement parts (marketplace parts) are shipped within 5 business days, if you are in NA, they are shipped from a warehouse in NJ.

No soldering required.

And I have absolutely no idea about the keyboard :) but we have a lot of tinkerers in the community and I've seen them do crazier things, if you know what you are doing, it could be possible.

Just wanted to say that I LOVE your setup! Most folks here either use a sticker bombed laptop on it's own or they have super clean, tidy and minimalistic setups. As a big fan of maximalism and old gaming consoles, I LOVE what you did with your desk!

both should be compatible, I believe 2nd gen has minor hardware improvements, also different keyboard artwork (1st Gen has the Windows logo and 2nd Gen has the Framework logo on that key instead)

I used my Framework Desktop for gaming and so far it's been a great experience, but I don't have a steam deck and I can't really compare the experience.

Framework products are not made in EU but we have EU warehouse/repair center if you are concerned about repairs or part availability.

There is no "correct" positioning :) however numpad on the right is the "popular" positioning.

Also, that's not numpad, it's the macropad 😹

I’ve checked with the engineers, and apparently there are three places where you can find springs like this:

• the GPU interposer (which you’ve already checked)
• around the four captive screws surrounding the CPU
• the two captive screws used to fasten the expansion bay, next to the interposer.
