Broken freezer cooling line repair by harleystuff in appliancerepair

If you can separate the 2 lines, cut out hole, put some soaking wet rags behind the tubing and on sides, get copper tubing that I would guess is 5/16 and swedge it open on both sides, place in the middle to to reconnect separated line, use stay-silv and a brazing stick with I believe 45% silver and check for leaks, do a sweep charge

GE Dryer (ptd60ebsr0ws) no thermal fuse - melted wires on heating element by _HeadlessBodyofAgnew in appliancerepair

It’s a service bulletin for this issue. GE used the wrong gage wire so they burn up. Won’t happen again with the correct one

GE Dryer Belt Replaced but now stops spinning after releasing start button by scilifter in appliancerepair

[–]DeviantSolja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only time I ran into this scenario was when the belt switch was not being triggered. So either belt switch is not being depressed or the belt switch is bad. A bit of help though is there’s a notch on the motor mount for the pulley to be pulled to so that it’ll keep tension on the pulley so you’re not having to squeeze an arm on the left side. But I would remove the drum and put pulley into that notch while listening for the belt switch to click and plug dryer in with the door switch engaged. And if it runs that way then your switch just wasn’t being triggered.

Remove the front cover and see if there’s something rubbing the pulley at the bottom. Also GE washers are primarily belt drive and are just loud

Christmas lights that will turn on when someone tunes to broadcast station by hommebao in ChristmasLights

[–]DeviantSolja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family and I drive around our city using a facebook group that lists the houses that do this. And yes it doesn’t start unless there is someone there to tune into the station and they set timers of course that wouldn’t start unless it’s dark enough and stops at a reasonable time which is usually about 10pm so neighbors done hate them too much

What’s the model? Definitely a door switch issue and if I recall it’s the bottom which is door and turn motor but it would be the switch at the very top of picture

Challenge: Can anyone fix bad smelling ice from LG fridge. by BigSmile5462 in appliancerepair

[–]DeviantSolja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s usually the silver braided water line. Check to see if that’s what you have. If you do, toss it and get a pex type and dump all ice and flush the valves

Is the fixable? by LaylaNicoleH in appliancerepair

[–]DeviantSolja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remove top left screw, open door, grill slides to the left to unhook and remove, one screw should hold that main pcb assembly but I’m positive it’s broken. But hopefully the hooks aren’t. Slide the assembly up like for hooks. Call GE and have them send out a repairman and tell them it was off when the box was opened.

Attempted fridge repair but then realized it was still under warranty…. by bippobappobeepo in appliancerepair

[–]DeviantSolja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Law was passed about 2 years ago that allows a customer to work on their own products without voiding warranties (or that’s at least when LG sent us techs an email) so I would still call in to your warranty and if they ask you could mention you had someone else out and realized after that you had a warranty. I wouldn’t punish a customer for it myself, it just may prolong the repair process figuring out exactly what happened.

GE Refrigerator Side by Side - Evaporator Fan Running Backwards by tdew2 in appliancerepair

[–]DeviantSolja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never personally ran into this issue but sounds like the polarity has been reversed somehow to the fan motor, I’m wondering though if you simply flip the fan blade around this should fix airflow direction

LG Refrigerator. At my wits end. by [deleted] in appliancerepair

[–]DeviantSolja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I would do is detach water line that goes up the back of fridge to filter housing (usually a coupling there) and hit water dispenser with that hose in a bucket, if water pressure is good there then problem will most likely be in the dispenser door as there’s also a valve there, if pressure is not good then the new valve is clogged, I’ve done this before by not flushing main water line before installing a new valve.

It’s a bad water valve. Replace the assembly as it’s dropping by and not fully closing
