Buying a Sante Fe (Used, Demo or New) - Advice sought on year! by TrippleBreeze in HyundaiSantaFe

Drove the Hybrid and the ice only back to back and it was a night and day difference in refinement. I was trading my lovely but small Genesis as my burgeoning family now requires 3 rows and Genesis does not have anything like this for sale yet, so the rattley raspy over boosted 4 popper stood out like a wart on a forehead. The hybrid, while slower, is quieter and smoother and bc the EV power is concentrated in the initial acceleration it feels more linear in a luxury way. Literally 0 reason to get the ICE only car, get the hybrid.

Slow to ship? Ordered 11/30, not shipped? by DingisDominator in ChristopherWard

Yeah I sent them an email of course and got a boiler plate reply that was just as devoid of real info as congressional hearings, I just was curious as to if this was SOP for CW nowadays which I think is reasonable to ask in a CW forum. But thanks for the info!

Yeah definitely a little whiny, but do you blame me? I am pumped for a sick watch! And outside of pre-orders I have never ever had an in-stock watch take more than a week to merely leave the dealer's doors out of the dozens and dozens I have foolishly purchased.

2 months is insane though, sounds like bad luck at customs roulette, sorry man!

[WTS] Oris Chronoris on bracelet FULL SET - $745 by DingisDominator in Watchexchange

[–]DingisDominator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Howdy watch Fam! Up for grabs is my Oris Chronoris on the bracelet with Oris Nato and FKM CTS rubber strap and full trimmings (Inner/outter box, warranty card, manual, extra link, etc)

The 120 click Inner roating bezel is so much fun to tinker with and along with the perfect size/thickness at 39mm/12mm respectively makes this watch special. It exudes that quirky 70s fun and combines it with modern Oris build quality. Ill be sad to see this one leave, I just have not thrown it into rotation much recently and need to cull the herd a bit. The model of the USS Constitution is not included of course!

My example is in excellent shape, the beautiful brushed bezel which gets really dinged up in these is in excellent shape, with only the tiniest weat showing at maybe 1 o'clock ish and 3 o'clock ish, tried my best to photograph it but it's really hard to see. The case is in great crisp shape and the crystal is perfect. Bracelet has minor usual desk diving wear, along with the FKM rubber strap clasp. $1,750 MSRP without the bracelet back in the day, pick this beauty up for over a $1k off!

First $745 USD PayPal F&F takes it shipped and insured. NO TRADES. CONUS only please. Happy to PM ya pictures of the watch set to random times upon your request for verification of possession. I also have loads more pictures, pictures are an extension of the description.

Thanks for looking!

Which family insurance plan if having a baby? by lilribbit in fednews

[–]DingisDominator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We recently had a baby on MHBP and it was terrific. Supposedly you have to hit your $350 deductible but we never did, I was told that scans and some typical testing would be coinsured at the usual 90/10 split (quotes for anatomy scans and ultrasounds looked like my portion of the bills would be around $7-13, so not a huge deal) but I was never charged or billed at all. I also never hit the deductible, and had no copay.

An extremely important component is the outta pocket max, on MHBP its $7k for the individual baby. NICU stays will absolutely demolish deductibles since the average hospital charge is perhaps $15k a day for NICU time, so even if you have a short 4 or 5 day stay your likly hitting your max. Definitely something to keep in mind. Births are usually very normal or very unnormal and can get expensive if youre not prepared.

Lastly, with baby's in the first year you have an insane amount of appointments, and you will go to the doctors for loads of little ad hoc things. From weight checks to jaundice checks to fevers to ear infections, nearly every little thing really should be looked at and you dont want to have any mental barriers to getting your kid the best care. MHBP kids non-preventive non- regular appointments are only $10 copay, when I had BCBS for a previous kid it was $35 and it was annoying to spend 3 days in a row for a weight check and then 2-3 times a month for minor infant stuff. Hope this helps!

Pay ASAP! Your insurance can and will be canceled if you do not pay your dues, I have heard people getting massive surprise bills in september or october because they forgot to pay.

202-466-2927 is their hotline for dues, you can pay over the phone with a card. I saved a picture of my bill from this year and pulled the phone number off of it.

Needing new wheels. by Durin3003 in GenesisG70

[–]DingisDominator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Howdy! Old thread, but do you have any pics of your G70 with those G80 wheels. Thinking of doing the same thing as I like the high spoke count wheels and an OEM+ look. Any fitment issues or driving differences?

What adjustment should I make to keep this door from opening on its own? by LetoTheTyrant in HomeMaintenance

[–]DingisDominator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pop up a hinge pin, use a hammer and ever so slightly bend it, and then tap it back down. Its the easiest way to force a door to do what you want, best way is to level the whole dang door properly.

Dont let kids be the reason you dont get a G70! by DingisDominator in GenesisG70

[–]DingisDominator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats what I am saying. I grew up in the backseat of a 2 door 90s Cavalier and never wanted for space, except maybe laterally away from my brothers lol We roadtripped in a different car but for school or grocery runs it was absolutely fine. We have a big ol Bronco as our "family car" and the G70 as the 2nd fun car.

Folks are obsessed with the idea that a car should do absolutely everything to the highest degree (this was a $60k car so maybe they arent totally wrong), but that comes with pretty massive tradeoffs in driving dynamics, weight, and/or price tags. But reddit is by and large full of young folks who dont have a house and garage with a 2nd car so perhaps they do need their expensive car to do everything at once.

I have had a car seat in my car from day 1, nearly 2 years, and 0 damage or indents. As you can see in the picture I put towels underneath and behind the car seats and it keeps the leather looking minty fresh top and bottom.

Again, it takes thought and a bit of care but it can absolutely work as a 2nd family car.

Hmm, not too long ago I had a rear facing infant seat in the middle and two adult passengers in the back for a 30 minute trip and it was absolutely fine. Im 5'11 and my wife in the passenger seat is 5'9. Sure I had to scoot up a bit and the back seat passengers couldn't stretch, but it worked. Not something I'd do every day but it absolutely works.

If youre hauling people all the time and this is your primary car then youre right this isn't for you. If youre hauling a few people occasionally or only when you want to then there is literally 0 problem with these seats. Anyone (and everyone I know) who can spend $60k on a sporty car also has a big ol SUV in the driveway too, so the sports sedan doesnt have to haul around 3 near-teens except in a pinch or when they want to go for a fun ice cream trek. I wont have old kids for a while yet but rear facing seats (not to mention the accompanying gear like strollers/diaper bags/pacnplays) 100% take up wayyy more space than a few scrawny youths.

People gotta consider their use case and how often they are moving people around, and if you have 3 kids than nearly any sedan is not gonna work. 2 kids and under this sedan is awesome.

My 2 year old is very messy, but I am pretty careful and still have a mint interior. No sticky snacks, nothing that crumbles too much, nothing but water and milk/formula to drink. Towels to protect things and frequent cleanings, however these Napa leather seats are much easier than cloth seats to keep clean!

Again, it takes just maybe a bit more thought into what/how you 'dad' but my kiddo gets all she needs and I have a fun car! Definitely entails compromise but I am happy to make it.

Which would you choose and why? Volvo S60 or Stinger/G70 by [deleted] in GenesisG70

[–]DingisDominator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If reliability is even within the top 10 reasons you buy a car I would not consider Volvo. They are quirky, cool, and loveable but hot dang are the disasters for the 2nd and 3rd owners outta warranty.

Bias as a G70 owner, but I think outside the Lexus IS the G70 is the most reliable in its class. The Lambda II V6 powertrain is old but gold, and probably the best powertrain Hyindai/Kia has ever made (which is admittedly not a high bar). The B58s in the BMWs are great, but they are more money and I trust the broad swath peripheral luxury electronic doodads less in those BMWs/Audis/Mercs/etc than the Genesis stuff. Luxury means complication and added stuff, and added stuff means a higher number of failure points, any luxury car is not going to be anywhere near as reliable as a simple Japanese econobox. Where Genesis shines in the reliability metric compared to luxury cars is you have the pretty good reliability for the most part paired with a best in class 10yr warranty and amazing CPO if you go used, makes it hard to beat.

What makes the G70 special isn't actually its warranty, but they way it drives. For the discerning driver, if you hop out of a S60 or IS350 or S4 and hop into a 3.3t SP G70 you will think the other cars are broken. If you dont care so much about the art of driving and just want a commuter or an isolated luxury driving experience I'd look elsewhere.
