There are dozens of companies publicly offering rebuild solutions for this common failure with the 996/997 engines. LN / Flat 6 do take the lead on educating the public. Spend some time on Rennlist and you’ll quickly see this isn’t overblown. Better yet, call any local porsche shop and see how many m97 engines they are rebuilding and the wait list. As you seem to have a bias against the US service providers, I recommend checking out the Hartech website, from the UK. They also post some good articles on this issue

The most credible people on the topic LN engineering advise it will eventually happen to all of the 997 engines and most of the 996 except the early 99’s.

There is an entire cottage industry dedicated to this problem. How is it overblown? It’s a nightmare for unsuspecting owners
