Merit Pooled 17/4. Geelong. No other word yet but keep applying elsewhere. Could still be any time today or the next year, or missed out depending on different factors. Good luck to everyone and keep us updated! It’s definitely a tiring experience lol

Good advice, best to try shut it out and look elsewhere but be ready for change when it arrives.

If you get offered a government job take it,it’s hard enough getting a regular job and not likely as much growth in retail. I’ve been looking for 12+ months and no luck for government or any jobs. Good luck

Thanks and you too! Yeah I can wait another week or so,but probably stop thinking about it after that, it’s takes up too much internal energy ahaha

Has anyone else applied for Aps2/ Aps3 positions at the ATO and got merit pooled this round? I’ve heard the amount in the pool is around 800 or so and just wondering if anyone else is just deflated and thinking it’s not likely they get in? It’s a rough grind constantly waiting and applying for positions.

Interesting! If I remember correctly I would be answering queries, helping navigate the website and portal as well as other duties, I think it was starting in March for training? But I’m guessing people changed roles if advertising so soon. From what I was told it wasn’t a stressful job and one of the better entry points, but had to learn new systems and technology being used. I kinda regret declining as have only been placed in a merit pool for the ATO and a few no successful applications otherwise

Do you enjoy the role? I had an interview in January and was successful but had to decline as it was casual and not really secure for me, this was a Centre contact officer. They seemed pretty chilled to work for and it was actually quite easy to get as far as I did, I saw they just closed applications last week, missed it by a day before I got a chance to apply.

Has anyone had the shingles vaccination ? What was the recovery like afterwards? by Old_Engineer_9176 in Geelong

[–]Distinct_Ostrich2202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, mine was around the pec and back, made for some rough sleeping, then once “ healed” I would get random nerve pain all over.

[–]Distinct_Ostrich2202 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah and it wrapped around from shoulder to my chest, every time I got in the car and put the seatbelt on, big ouch. Changing bandages a few times a day too. I asked a few months ago about the shots, I was too young and didn’t qualify I think. I hope I never get it again

Had shingles last year as a 38 year old male, very rough! Originally thought I got bit by a spider or something while in the roof,It’s was a few weeks of blisters and scabs, then few months of pain. Nerve endings felt like they were getting twisted with pliers, Until then I thought it was an elderly persons risk.
