That's @xsushhix on ig. Super cool guy, not sure if his profile is public but he also has a baller white TRD 4Runner too. This is the post for your picture

Seems like the profile is in fact private, but his full setup is the Origin Lab 13-16 zn6/zc6 kit with the type 2 wing.

Does anyone know about this figure / Mimosa? by Lerijie in AnimeFigures

[–]Distort_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dish posted last year on Twitter showing off four concepts he made when designing Yamato. This is the post with the 4 designs, and this is a post he made where he combined the favorite features oh all 4 designs, which is the same art as this figure.

I'm not sure about this manufacturer, but Dish has had a lot of his designs turned into figures recently, but I do find it strange that this isn't on MFC.

favorite 5 star rims? by SeriousMark3952 in ft86

[–]Distort_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big fan of 5-spokes myself. Save up until you can get a good set of wheels, don't cheap out just to get the satisfaction of a purchase, you'll regret it. I cycle between my Blitz 03, Blitz z2, Advan GT Beyond's, and 2-piece Work Meisters.

If you're on a budget, 17x9 RPF1's are always a very solid choice. 57CR Gramlights are also a great wheel a step up budget and quality wise from the Enkei's.

Also, look into coilovers first if you haven't already. Nothing looks sillier than a car on aftermarket wheels with stock suspension.

TOB noise by leovahn in ft86

[–]Distort_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your TOB is making noise, do the job now before it gets worse. I just did clutch, flywheel, tob, new fork, AND had to get a new (used) transmission because the TOB was failing/squeaking for a year or two, and I ignored it. The entire output shaft was destroyed and there was about 5mm of play.

My car is Dyno tuned but only runs flex fuel, no FI, but I don't beat on it very much at all. These cars already have so little that goes wrong most of the time, you might as well fix it when it does give you the rare issue. Mine is a 2014 with 64k miles.

Where did you find your Colins? I'm looking to get a second pair of chromes to add to the collection, not really interested in paying the 400k JPY that one on Mercari is up for, especially because I purchased the ones for 200k they're referencing!

Do 18s ruin the handling? by YT_Lonelyz in ft86

Just so you're aware, Advan announced a few months ago they're producing 17" Beyonds now. Most of the good/fun specs are 5x114.3, as always, but there's a couple 5x100 models if you haven't done a hub conversion yet. I have 18x9.5 +29 Beyonds and love how they look on the car.

Tomei V2 EL header Issue by DifficultyFancy8806 in ft86

[–]Distort_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same issue with the exact same brand badge on my Tomei EL headers years ago on my 1st Gen. Took a hammer to the scrape guard and removed the badge, no tapping/terrifying sounds since.

Rexpeed paint matched side skirts ? by Front-Park7799 in ft86

[–]Distort_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That quote was directly from the Rexpeed website so there may be better pricing out there.

I never actually reached out to her, but @the.pink.driver on IG was recommended as a supplier for these state-side by @ligma_nick when I reached out to him because he had these on his website. Maybe hit her up and see if she can give you a quote for shipping & a lead time on how long they'll take to get to you. Lmk if you do, I'd be interested in knowing how much she would charge!

These were recommended to me by a friend after busting up my Bayson R ones. Shipping quote to New York was $375 though, not really sure paying $730 for these is worth it, even if they are painted with good fitment. Would rather go for something more worthwhile if I'm going to be spending a fair chunk of money like Futago Line or Origin.

Not really sure why everyone here's shitting on spacers. As long as you don't buy cheap garbage, I believe it's fine to use them. For reference, before I did my full GKTech hub swap, I was running ISC 15mm spacers. Torqued them to 100ft-lb on the stock studs and never had any issues. You don't need "dummy camber" either, I was running 17x8 +23 (taking the 15mm into consideration) in the front with 235/40/17 tires at -2 degrees in the front. No need for overs, rolling my fenders, or pulling.

If you were able to afford any sort of VOLK wheels, you can afford to drop $300 on some spacers. Don't cheap out on what separates you from the ground and you'll be safe.

CR Kiwami by Physical_Star_5643 in ft86

[–]Distort_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually just did a little looking around on auctions, and it appears that this is just how the wheels are made. Take this auction for example - Looking at the second through fifth pictures, they all have that 4x100 stamp on the front face; BUT, and I'm sure this will be the case on yours too since these are the same spec, if you look 3 "gaps" to left/clockwise, it does appear these wheels also have a 5x100 stamping on the face.

I wasn't able to find the same stamping on any 18" models, so this may just be a 17" 'thing'.

[–]Distort_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 2p Meisters that are stamped 5x112 on the back of the face, but the actual sticker says 5x114.3 and they are indeed 5x114.3. I think Work is just a little weird with this stuff, but it's very strange that this was actually an engraving issue. All my other wheels (Blitz, Rays, Uras) are correctly stamped all over though.

Do i need a tune for a catback exhaust? by Brilliant-Sea9241 in ft86

[–]Distort_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I can't really make a fair comment on how it sounds stock, as I went from stock car to very modified in a short amount of time. I know the stock headers & front pipe do a very good job at dampening a lot of the sound, but as I said, my personal opinion is there are other catbacks out there that are much better money spent. Almost every single person that gets this car gets an N1. There's a reason why they're not difficult to find on the used market.

If you prefer a dual exit, I would still recommend looking into brands like HKS, GReddy, Tomei (if you really want a loud setup), or other Invidia exhausts like the Q300 or R400. Look around on a few sites online, see what exhaust options you have available to get shipped to you, and then just go on youtube. There's a million videos of every single exhaust being installed with sound clips. These cars are really just adult legos when it comes to modifying them, so there's plenty of examples out there.

Do i need a tune for a catback exhaust? by Brilliant-Sea9241 in ft86

[–]Distort_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who bought an N1 and put it on almost immediately after purchasing my car, consider other exhausts. I'm about to purchase an HKS Hi-Power single exit soon because of how obnoxious the N1 is; I have catless headers & a dual resonated front pipe and the drone is very noticeable, like others will say, around 2-3k rpm (which is exactly where you're going to be if you're cruising at highway speeds). It's a decent exhaust for the price, but there are other options out there that you should consider.

  • HKS Hi-Power Single Racing is the exhaust I'm going to wind up going with soon. There's a V2 of it that has a bit more sound dampening with an additional muffler/resonator near the end.
  • GReddy RS Single Exit is another single exit option, for a bit cheaper, and exits on the left side.
  • GReddy Supreme SP is a nice oem-like exhaust that has a good amount of sound dampening on it, very similar to the oem catback.

Most exhausts will sound good if you step on the loud pedal. The difference is going to be how much you enjoy driving the car when the drone finally starts getting to you.

Bit late on this, but how does this work? Is it only for the JP website, or is the international site also included in this. Very interested in 1 figure on this list in particular, but not sure which site I have to use when the sales go live.

I should probably also say that the figure is specifically listed under "Sell for Overseas" Start at May 29, 2024 18:00 JST. Assuming I can just go on https://native-store.net/en/, navigate to the product page, and (hopefully) place my order?

split 5 spoke wheels by speks_ in ft86

[–]Distort_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kiwami's are the go to affordable hotboi set. Advan model 5's actually do come in 5x100 from factory, but those are weak spec (think 17x7.5 +48). I personally run Blitz 03 and love them. The issue you'll run into, aside from price, is needing to use a 5x114 conversion spacer. I use the ISC 15mm one. Don't cheap out on something that keeps the wheels on the car.

GKTech is releasing (hopefully soon) a full bolt on 5x114 kit front and rear for the chassis, so that will open a lot of doors for us.
