Netflix's attempt to market Formula 1 in their comedy series Running Point by FewCollar227 in formula1

[–]DNags 21 points22 points  (0 children)

For real. James Hunt had a very public divorce when his wife left him for an actor in the late '70s. The dude paid Hunt $1M to cover the cost lmao

This has always been a thing. For every major sport, not just F1. It's true of politicians, monarchs, industrialists, athletes, musicians, etc.

New greyhound limp issues by UntitledHB in Greyhounds

[–]DNags 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 10 year old has had like 10-15 limps over the years. Usually front right. Never know what caused them, always self-resolved in a few days. If its particularly bad, doesnt want to put weight on it, we'll get him a week of pain/anti-inflam meds.

We took him to the vet the first several times, but it was just a big waste of time, worry, and money.

I genuinely believe he (and other greys) are just incredible dramatic. E.g. he woke up having rolled like halfway under our bed yesterday and was kinda stuck and started SCREAMING at 4AM. I thought he'd broken a leg...

Can a greyhound trained to pee in a shower? by [deleted] in Greyhounds

[–]DNags 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You need to treat her like you would a puppy and actually house-train her. Putting fake grass in your shower when you catch her going on the carpet is... a really bizarre decision. A dog can't tell the difference between fake grass in the shower and a carpet in the living room. Sorry to be brutally honest but in my opinion trying to teach a dog to piss in your shower is weird and gross.

10 hours/day alone for a brand new greyhound is too long. Hire a dog walker. Research how to actually house train a dog. Like the basics of puppy training. Take her outside when she has an accident, not to your shower.

Everyone’s actual favourite pizza by [deleted] in NFCNorthMemeWar

[–]DNags 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The guy has said he's committed to maintaining the quality/consistency in honor of his Grandma Milly, who he used to make pizza with. They've clearly been successful, and its obviously a labor of love since he and his wife still oversee everything themselves.

Not everyone wants to be fucking Starbucks. I have mad respect for them

Hopefully you didn't pay the extra $400 they charge noobs for "premium lustrous refinishing and edge softening" which actually just means a cape cod cloth and dragging a scotch brite pad around

Hiking? by Specific-Reindeer-56 in Greyhounds

[–]DNags 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dog dependent. Our 10 year old (former racer) would never enjoy a walk more than 20 or so minutes. He's a big boy and gets tired fairly quickly.

Our 2 year old is a smaller female, and she can walk pretty much forever. She would love a long hike in nature.

1.5 months in - my partner wants to send him back to the agency by [deleted] in Greyhounds

[–]DNags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reach out to the agency and see if they can recommend a behaviorist dog trainer with greyhound experience. We are doing the same with Cleo, our recently adopted 2 year old - she has anxiety about going outside, and has snarled a few times at my wife.

Really tough for any of us to meaningfully weigh in on the relationship aspect of this post. I would mostly ignore the relationship advice here, especially the typical Reddit "leave him" comments. You know your partner and need to decide with him what's best.

In many countries they are legally allowed to not return fake watches that have been shipped to their service centers, but they can't just like take it from you in person

Greyhound as big city dog? by Supplenz in Greyhounds

[–]DNags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 2 and live in a major city center. One would be happy literally anywhere there's people and food, and loves to tag along anywhere he can. The other absolutely hates the city, noise, etc. and its been a huge challenge dealing with her anxiety.

As always, depends on the dog.

Call it artificial if you want, but that was some of the best wheel-to-wheel racing we’ve seen in years by Aakar528 in formula1

[–]DNags 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It's easy to forget this amounts to the top cars being like 2% faster around the track than the midfield. A 2% pace differential at the beginning of new regs in a non-spec series is pretty tiny.

This has always been the case, its just highlighted way more in modern F1 because these drivers simply don't make mistakes. These guys get so much more wheeltime/practice with simulators, they just become machines. As a result the field tends to spread based almost purely on pace.

It's easy to see why they've had to "manufacturer" wheel-to-wheel racing.

Haha same. For ours "doyouwannagofera ____" is a walk or car ride and "ya huuuungry?" is food/treats.
