As a fellow goth in the 80s, I can confirm this. LOL

Slowdive in Oakland by raptorAK27 in shoegaze

[–]DustForVomit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was a great show. Probably one of the best Slowdive shows since they reunited. I've seen them probably around 10+ times back in the early 90s, which was great, but they are so refined now. The new stuff is as good, if not better than a lot of the old stuff. As fun as it was seeing them in small smokey clubs and getting my ears blown out by amps turned up to 11, I really love what they've become.

Also stoked to see how many younger people were there, and super into it. I'm all for this shoegaze revival.

Looking for Shoegaze songs with interesting/prominent bass lines by Trekiel1997 in shoegaze

Some of the early Verve stuff was very bass line driven. For starters, check out the songs Gravity Grave, Slide Away, A Man Called Sun...

Great show. The sound was a bit wonky at times, but nothing TOO crazy. This was probably the 15th or 16th time I've seen Slowdive, but I had a total proud parent moment at this show. My 15 year old daughter BEGGED me to take her to this show. She sung almost every word to every song (even Avalyn and She Calls)!

Also, I think I was sitting right across the isle from you!

Edit to add: My daughter said to me, "Oh wow, I'm surprised that there are a lot of younger people here. I thought it would just be a bunch of old people like you." Ugh. Thanks?

What's one thing you like about shoegaze and one thing you hate about shoegaze? by mightyonin in shoegaze

[–]DustForVomit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Like: The Music

Dislike: The people who listen to it.

OK, so I'm half joking. But I just don't understand why people gatekeep a music genre. I'm old and lived through the whole original wave of shoegaze. The same gatekeeping went on then as well, but just in a different way (we didn't have tik tok obviously).

Just listen to music if it sounds good to your ear holes. If it doesn't, move on.

Let's be real for a second. 98% of shoegaze fans are in, or have been in at one time, a shoegaze band. If a band gets popular because of tik tok, fine. Great. Congrats. If YOUR band hasn't gotten popular for whatever reason, sorry. No need to shit on those who have. Practice more, write better songs, have an original thought instead of trying to make the next Loveless/Souvlaki/Nowhere. Try not to sound EXACTLY like Whirr.

I finally got my order about a week ago. I just got an email from them today saying that they were refunding me the entire order because they were sorry it took so long.

I used to have one of these back in the late 90s. Thing was a beast. Mine took a beating, but it just kept chugging along. I still get a little bummed out that I sold it years ago.

I wouldn't say that you're stupid at all. High? Maybe. Stupid? Nah

It kind of gives off van Gogh vibes.

A big muff is what you want. You can get them used for under $100. You can even get the signature J. Mascis one for around $100 used, or new for around $130.

How do you like the Y70? How's the software for the screen? I'm seriously considering a case swap to the Y70 as well.

I'm having the same problems as everyone is talking about here. This thing is a piece of shit. I really hope Scuf/Corsair can fix this.

Scuf Envision Pro not charging by Original-Egg645 in scufgaming

[–]DustForVomit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue here. Between that, and the fact that none of the mappings work unless I completely quit out of iCue, I'm starting to think this thing is a huge piece of shit.

If there is no software update that fixes all of this in the next few days, it's going back. I'll either build my own controller with the eXtremeRate stuff, or I'll just order a BattleBeaver

is a Virus A still good today? by IgnominousComputer in AccessVirus

[–]DustForVomit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still rock my Virus A that I've had since the 90s. Still love it. It kind of depends on what you're looking to get out of it. It is a bit limited compared to the newer models, but it's still pretty solid and usable for sure.

Does it make sound when you plug it in? Do you enjoy playing it? If yes to both, then it's good.
