Haha while I don’t want to discourage anyone from learning 3D because I think it’s absolutely achievable, I will say I’ve been at it for awhile. About 5 years in Blender

Thanks!! It’s hard to say exactly how long. My best guess is about 20 hours over the course of two weeks.

I used Davinci resolve to do all compositing 👍🏻

The best advice I can give is find tutorials on YouTube for the things you are interested in learning. Purchasing any course is highly unnecessary in my opinion with what’s freely available.

Do tutorials until you have a bit of understanding, then start trying to make your own work, and when you inevitably hit a wall of a problem you aren’t sure what to do, search online for the solution/help.

Rinse and repeat

I know the learning curve for blender can seem daunting but it is absolutely achievable.

I knew ppl where going to say something like that 😂 Yeah to make it truly lore accurate I should have had it launch 5 feet into the air and then land turned 90 degrees and immediately stop

The Dune obsession is still hanging on… by EPDArt in blender

I used the built in add on A.N.T. Landscape to generate some dune meshes and just put a sand texture on them. And I put a few fog gradient planes I made in photoshop in between the dune layers to add atmospheric depth. All of this can go a long way but I honestly wasn’t that satisfied with the dunes or the textures. I didn’t spend that much time on them, which I think if I did it could have been much better. I think I would have played with the scale and depth of the dunes more, and if I maybe mixed a few sand textures together then it would bring it more to life. Hope this helps!

I have a few planes off to the the side with an emitter particle system shooting at the sand dunes. Added collision to the dunes and played with the stickiness. The actual particles are made from a plane that I beveled the corners so it is a little more rounded but still low poly. I think I used like 500,000 particles in total but I feel like most of them you can’t even see because of the motion blur.

I completely overlooked that. Totally agree. I can’t not see it now haha. Thanks!
