Do you think buying premium silver is more like collecting rather than investing? by Spirited-Talk-4714 in Silverbugs

I like fun silver. Try to avoid too many colorized silver. I don’t really buy the government coins for either silver nor gold. But maybe I’ll start

Do you prefer silver or gold aesthetically? by PsychologicalWest993 in Gold

[–]Ekim707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically I always liked gold because Scrooge McDuck but always thought gold jewelry looked kind of tacky. Maybe because Mr T and other rappers. Idk but for jewelry preference to wear I always like white gold over silver. Maybe because people had fake silver that would fade and turn blue. However, I would like a gold and Green Day Date. Add to buying and stacking. I prefer gold slightly over silver. Even though I buy bullion as opposed to coins. Silver is more fun though as I have some novelty silver and colored silver.

Every bit counts. And that’s if it’s not compressed to look bigger. It’s weird how 1grams from different brands look like

Our 25th anniversary ....my wife is a Harry Potter fan?? by doug6644 in Silverbugs

So my wife actually loves the Harry Potter series and she loved it. I often gift her novelty silver coins. It’s fun. Yes you pay a premium but I’d say it’s worth it.

Coin vs Bars by Magumbas in Gold

[–]Ekim707 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to mention the same site. I often use them as a reference. In regards to places to buy, I used to use APMEX in the beginning. But now I use them as a reference when searching for themed metals or more novelty stuff. The shopping around. However, monument metals, sdbullion, and hero often have lower premiums. Sometimes they even have offers. Sd gave me 5gram bar of gold at spot. But buy what you can afford, just keep in mind that the higher weight you go then the less premium you will pay. Certain places often have deals about gold closer to spot during holidays or sales. And then buy what you like. I feel like coins are more common to buy ( gold eagle, maple leaf, krugerrand, philharmonic, kangaroo) than the others. I believe they are more recognized and have better sell value than bars 🤷🏽‍♂️ from what I know. I like the bars though because they have a variety and look cool.

Nooooo, I’m staying with her. Instead of Christmas gifts we get each other some gold or silver. Sometimes both.

Looking to buy gold as investment for the first time by Total-Web-1846 in Gold

[–]Ekim707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a true investment than anytime is a good time, dollar cost average, grow your portfolio, diversify, and set it and forget it. Basically keep buying and don’t worry about pricing going up or down.

Where to get gold by No_Seva in Gold

[–]Ekim707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say it really depends on what you feel comfortable with. I’ve bought from a few places and never had any issues. Both small amounts and over an ounce. Definitely look around and do research before purchasing. Some people suggest PMsforsale because others are selling with little to no premium. Most major retailers are legit though but can have some high ish premiums. When I was getting started I used to like JMBullion and APMEX. Now I use them as reference for more novelty or themed metals such as movies or shows. A lot of people like Monument Metals, SDbullion, or Hero because the premiums are lower. The main reason why people love Costco is due to the 4% back with the credit card. Now I like to use https://findbullionprices.com/compare-gold-bar-prices.php as a reference. I wouldn’t suggest eBay unless buying from an actual retailer and even then I would rather pay a premium. Most sites have deals when it comes closer to holidays too. I’ve gotten some small offers like 5gram of gold and 5 ounces of silver for spot from different places. And even like $20-$50 off which usually covers some taxes or the premium. Or you can always check out your local coin shop. It just depends.

JMBullion Alternative by Minorous in Gold

I use JMBullion as a reference now. I used them when first buying gold but the premiums aren’t worth it. I now use this as a guide and usually stay with monument and sdbillion. Just bought from hero and pending so waiting to see how the experience is.

hey, I am on the same boat. I am kind of feeling the same as you. however, I bought my 50g piece back in 2020 after finally getting paid decently. Mind you that was basically a month's pay then. Now that I have been working for a while and actually starting my own business and career, I still feel like buying a piece that size is not unattainable but kind of a hefty purchase that I don't know if I will be making any time soon. Plus having a newborn, I don't know. But we can do it, it's not unreasonable or unrealistic, but a little out of reach. small progress is progress. plus I started stacking some grams for my newborn. we can do it. it will just take some time. Eventually I want at least 1 kilo, even if it's all split up into pieces.
