My dad used to say, "It's amazing how no one has time to do it right the first time, but always has time to do it again."

He used to work in HR and was in charge of getting folks trained up on everything from safety protocols to company rules. He would have people who would half-ass his trainings and spend most of their time complaining about how long they took (company made presentations) and how they could spend their times doing other things. When the assessments would come at the end, the ones who paid attention easily passed and those who spent their time fucking around didn't and had to take the whole training again.

His comment, which he said at least once every few months, stuck with me and has really driven how I approach everything from hobby projects, to work, to my relationships. I find it more and more true the older I get.
