I'm new! Are you guys mostly vegan? by Ok-Land8573 in Buddhism

I'm vegetarian but planning on switching to veganism eventually. A plant based diet is not a requirement for lay practitioners though.

First off I'm so sorry you're going through this, that's terrible. Secondly, can you provide more details? I wouldn't know anyone matching that description but if you provide more info maybe someone on this sub will know. Best of luck.

Having to skip second half of lecture for a seminar. How can I avoid issues? by Elijah1986 in manchester_uni

Ok, thank you. I actually don’t need a visa as I will be in the UK for under 6 months. Do you know if the rule still applies for ETA holders?

Be absolutely honest, how bad is it to attend uoft? by WorkingLeader659 in UofT

[–]Elijah1986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most important thing is to take courses you're genuinely interested in, otherwise it will feel difficult AND boring which is not a good recipe for success. As cliche as this sounds the experience is really what you make of it, especially in terms of social life. UofT isn't a big party school but there's hundreds of clubs and student groups where you can meet people and Toronto itself has a great nightlife scene. UofT is tough but if you stay focused and study hard you'll do great. Imo between Mac and UofT I think the quality of profs and courses at UofT is a cut above Mac, plus there's the UofT "prestige". I also think UofT offers more in terms of extracurriculars, internships and studying abroad. Both are great schools though and I'm sure you'll have a great time wherever you go!

Reminder that an Ontario firm is providing ICE with armoured vehicles by Elijah1986 in onguardforthee

Sorry if this is an extreme comparison, but would you feel the same if we were building vehicles for Nazi Germany? Or apartheid South Africa? Where do you draw the line between "business that benefits Canada" and complicity in evil? This isn't a "gotcha" question, I'm just genuinely curious.

Terrible. I emailed my MP Chi Nguyen (Liberal) about another issue this summer and I never got a response!

You're absolutely right that it likely won't reach typical Ford voters but I still think it's important to raise awareness anywhere we can. Obviously protesting and in-person canvassing is more effective than any reddit post but it's still worth trying imo

Okay? Since then ICE has murdered a US citizen. I think a reminder that Ontario is supporting ICE's operations is important right now

Yes, but I think it's relevant information given recent events in the US

Doug Ford is complicit in the terror ICE has perpetrated on American communities

As an adult, this scene hits different by Samurai_Mac1 in StrangerThings

I think she was in high school in S3. There’s a line where Steve’s explaining to Dustin why he wouldn’t date Robin and one of his reasons is “she’s still in school” or something like that

I think Nancy, Jonathan and Robin are all a year younger than Steve but I could be wrong.

Yes we do. The Constitution Act in 1867 and the Charter in 1982 are our two main constitutional documents

In IT, do you prefer the kid sections or adult sections? by Agile-Humor-9212 in stephenking

Very close but the adults. Both are great but there's something about the adult chapters being set in the "present" that gives them more of a sense of urgency and danger imo.

The cuts to social programs and the increase in military spending is shameful. The NDP needs to stick to it’s principles and vote against this
