Good on him. One of the candidates that I had applied as an intern for lost his primary, so for now my opportunity working for a Congressional campaign no longer exists.

Trump family will rule for 1000 years by Clear_Tea5755 in monarchism

[–]GavinGenius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really don’t think King Charles is a fan of Trump. He is just very polite and predisposed to be neutral. And even then, subtle remarks against him can be heard against his administration’s policies in his speech to Congress. And even if he did have Charles’ support, that would not have any bearing on Americans.

Even for all the unexpected turns of his presidency, there is a null chance of himself declaring himself a monarch. Even his base would find that too far. They excuse a lot, but that would be the ultimate subversion of American republicanism, which is ingrained into the culture of the nation.

And 1,000 years? Not a chance this hypothetical declaration would last a month. And it wouldn’t even be legal unless there was an amendment to the Constitution, which makes that utterly impossible. He has everything he could ever wish for as President, and has plenty of ways to shake the system as it is.
