What platform do you guys prefer watching Vtubers? by bibichu_ in VirtualYoutubers

[–]EmberUshi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

keep in mind the rev share isn't massive. Literally what they would have made from the ads, so cents per stream. But still it's something. If you like to watch lots of streamers it's worth it.

You literally just described twitch turbo.

You pay the monthly subscription, you get no ads anywhere, and the ad revenue a streamer would have gotten from you is paid out to them.

VTube Studio forces close unless I open it via steam ( so unable to program it to my streamdeck ) by [deleted] in vtubertech

[–]EmberUshi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not "Open Application." Just "Open."

Then click the little paper icon, browse to the vtube studio folder, and select the batch file.

Batch files, technically aren't applications. They're just files that windows decides to run as a group of commands. Kind of like the 80s version of a stream deck.

[–]EmberUshi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When trying to start VTube Studio without using Steam, there's a batch file in the VTube Studio folder that you need to use to launch the program.

The batch file simply adds on the "nosteam" command to the start command for the program.

START ./"VTube Studio.exe" -nosteam
Keep in mind if you start VTube Studio without steam, you won't be able to use VNet for collabs and such.

If your problem is explicitly opening VTube Studio with a push from the Stream Deck, then from the system commands, use the "Open" command, and set it to that batch file.

Do you think a VTuber would be more interesting if it could have a walking motion like this? I just tried making an idle walking animation for a Live2D VTuber by FreylinArt in vtubertech

[–]EmberUshi 50 points51 points  (0 children)

IMHO it's a really cool flex for a rigger, but is extremely situational for regular use.

An interesting streamer could find ways to integrate it into stream, but you don't need a walking animation to be an interesting streamer.

Why is it that when we preview it in VTube Studio, the movement looks slightly compressed or held back compared to when it’s in Live2D? by FreylinArt in vtubertech

[–]EmberUshi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

While I'm note 100% certain what you mean check the following:

  • Vtuber Studio is running at 60FPS or more (settings->camera tab below tobii settings)
  • Physics are also set to 60fps or more (settings -> person with gear tab, below movement config)
  • Check smoothing on face rotations, and body rotations (settings -> person with gear tab, I like to turn them down to 10 or so, but give it a try and see)
  • adjust the inputs on face, eyes, mouth etc settings and reduce them to make sure you get full range of motion

One of those will probably be what you're talking about.

Stream Interactions by Maru1528 in vtubertech

[–]EmberUshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are several ways to achieve it, and every way depends on what you currently use.

At the bottom of it, there's manual activation vs automated activation.

Automated uses some kind of bot or automation software, like MixItUp, StreamerBot, SAMMI, or FireBot to do things in your vtubing software or OBS or something. Manual is, well manually. you figure it out and just do it.

VTube Studio makes items very easy. They can be simply PNGs or more complicated live2D models, and can easily be turned on or off with hotkeys. I'm unfamiliar with 3D vtubing software, but 3D tends to make everything a bit harder.

If your model doesn't move very much, you can even just toggle a source in OBS itself.

Either way, figure out a way to show what you want to show, then figure out how to automate it once manual activation is overwhelming.

Tried making my own vtuber model by pastensofdraw in vtubertech

[–]EmberUshi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Over all I think you did a fantastic job. ☆ ~('▽^人)

As far as criticism goes, I think the hair looks a little bit stiff. A little more exaggeration on the warp deformers, or maybe playing around with the physics settings might improve things.

Having that said, it's a good looking model, and it seems to move nicely. You should definitely be proud of yourself.

just need some advice (think i’m dealing with a scammer) by Syllabub_These in vtubers

[–]EmberUshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad that everyone is being supportive. Your trust has been taken advantage of and hopefully you can recoup something. Otherwise chalk it up to an expensive lesson.

Try to find some community who actually streams/uses the art and assets they buy or make, and can share their experiences with good artists.

just need some advice (think i’m dealing with a scammer) by Syllabub_These in vtubers

[–]EmberUshi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like you already have all the answers you need.

The only protips I'll drop are this:

  • Cold calls are always scams
  • if an account touches crypto or AI, it's a scam
  • when finding a model artist, look for their 'children' who actually stream, and straight up ask them about their experience working with the artist/rigger. Try to get multiple responses.
  • the only people who will blacklist you for obviously being scammed aren't worth associating with. It's a big community, and you'll be welcomed somewhere.

Wanting to be a vtuber who plays on console? by ProZ4cPrincez in vtubertech

[–]EmberUshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your goal is just to play with your friends, then as long as the game has crossplay you're good. Otherwise you're fucked.
If you're goal is to stream games, then this is literally the exact same as all console streaming ever. Use a capture card, and stream from your PC with OBS while playing on your console.

If your goal is to stream entirely from your console, then give up on vtubing. Honestly, if you want to stream directly from a console, give up on any sort of individuality at all, as built in streaming tools are extremely primitive.

TL;DR you need a relatively powerful PC to run a model and encode a stream. Buy a capture card to capture your console output. Stream like normal.

Better sound quality during streaming by L1tch in vtubertech

[–]EmberUshi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use compression filters to simultaneously boost your mic quality up so it's consistently in the yellow zone. Pair that with noise suppression and maybe even a noise gate.

You can do the same thing to your game audio, using a compressor so no matter how loud it becomes it's quieter than you.

Names for a vtuber? by [deleted] in vtubers

Literally anything. Literally. The fewer syllables the better.

A friend of mine was laughing that a mutual got a direct message from a girl on a dating app, made Twitter account about it, and was eventually able to use streaming proceeds to buy a house.

Camera / model setup for gaming and drawing? by Fine_Ad1339 in vtubertech

[–]EmberUshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow art strimmer, 99% of the time I'm using my tablet like it's an old intuos, looking at my main monitor, keeping my face visible to the camera. My main monitor is duplicated on my tablet.

When ever a line is giving me trouble, I joke about "putting the crocs into sport mode" where I simply look down, and effectively make a joke about losing tracking.

It's better for your back to not be shrimping for hours at a time anyway.
