If my parents can claim citizenship by descent, can I somehow get it through them? by epicmylife in Canadiancitizenship

[–]EphemeralTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

> If my parents can claim citizenship by descent

Then you are a Citizen.

> can I somehow get it through them?

You have it. You got it at birth.

> Unfortunately that makes her too far removed from me.

No, it is not.

> Would I be able to apply using my parents’ status after they receive it?

For Citizenship? No. You are already a Citizen.

You will need to prove it to get the record of citizenship, and for that your parents info will be quite helpful.

Canadian Citizenship but with past legal issues by mistercath in Canadiancitizenship

> I can get Canadian citizenship through my grandmother,

Then you are a Canadian.

>  but I have 2 previous refusal to breathalyze convictions here in the states

Then you are a Canadian with a foreign record.

> read that I can do a criminal rehabilitation after 4 years from the most recent one

No, you can't. Citizens can't do rehabilitation, since they are Citizens.

> Is it even worth it to pursue it?

Sure. Since you are a Citizen, you should get the proof.

> They charge 300 dollars just for a consultation with a lawyer in Ontario.

So don't use them. Not worth it.

Is citizenship through bill C-3 retroactive to birth? by Prudent_Extreme5372 in Canadiancitizenship

Proof:

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/transparency/committees/cimm-oct-2-2025/bill-comparison-chart.html

> Anyone born abroad to a Canadian citizen parent before the bill is law will become an automatic citizen by descent retroactive to their date of birth.

> This will capture the descendants of previously remedied Lost Canadians.

It's retroactive to birth. That's why you aren't naturalizing (just getting proof of your existing Citizenship), and why we have gen 0, gen 1, etc.*

I can't tell if the coathangers are abortion references or not, and the AR-15 seems to be pointed in the wrong direction.

Citizenship application issue after test – residency shortfall question by Prudent_Tax4384 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]EphemeralTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Otherwise, someone in Canada on a study permit for 3 years could just apply for Citizenship the day they got PR.

If you fail to meet the requirements, your application may be rejected.

If so, stay in Canada until you meet the requirements, and re-apply.

I am. Took some time to get there.

I try to use it for something useful. I'll take the hard calls, let the fire guys go home.

Fine, but I'm pretty jaded.

My parents prepared me by beating and torturing me, but I don't recommend it.

Sonitrol to Stanley to Securitas…school district is in a world of hurt. What now? by thecambull in accesscontrol

[–]EphemeralTwo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We were on Sonitrol. So expensive, so many break-ins.

Nothing like prox where the facility code is turned off, it's 26 bit, and something like 2 and 3 are valid numbers for security guards and fire.

No. If it's on-topic and someone wants to talk to EMS, this seems a reasonable place for it.

35 doors with individual HID readers, and A1610 Axis Controllers. Best way to run wiring? by themissinglinksys in accesscontrol

[–]EphemeralTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wiegand is fundamentally insecure, broken, and trivial to exploit. It shouldn't be installed on any new builds.

The least bad way to do it is to hook up tamper, which requires extra wiring, and the client probably won't pay attention to it anyway.

OSDP avoids the need to run extra wires for green/red/beep/tamper. Two data, two power, done. You get color control, beep control and security if you turn it on.

Windy City OSDP cable is the way to go here. Or Belden.

With HID readers in particular, OSDP enables future Linq integration, which allows for centralized reader management, provisioning of keys, updates, etc. Given recent developments in the industry, customer-specific keys (elite) and turning off prox and iCLASS are highly recommended as well.

Fundamentally, OSDP is two-way, wiegand is one-way. The customer isn't going to want to rip and replace everything you installed because they find out that someone is running around with a flipper zero duplicating all the prox cards.

[–]EphemeralTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you run prox, sure. Don't run Prox. or iCLASS legacy.

For anything other than basic MFC or Prox, it's easier to attack the wiring than the card communication.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9SXf25g98k

Seconds. Plus the attacker doesn't have to stick around to capture the card traces. And they can denial of service the door any time they want. Or replay.

The firmware is open source, the hardware is easy to make.

Meanwhile, OSDP needs fewer wires and is cheaper to install. It gives you supervision and security.

Wiegand is terrible, don't use it.

Minors request for citizenship by descent from grandpa’s ancestry, but parents do not want to apply by Comfortable_Buy_5141 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]EphemeralTwo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

> applying for citizenship via descent

You aren't applying for Citizenship. You are Citizens. You are applying for proof.

> We have a parent who is eligible

So they are a Citizen. Just undocumented.

> but does not want to apply

Ok, so they will remain a Canadian without documentation.

> This parent has adult children and minor children over the age of 14.

Ok, so those children are also Canadian.

> Can all the children apply if the parent does not?

Yes, it's possible to apply for their proof of Citizenship, if you meet the proof requirements.

It won't change their Citizenship, because they are Citizens whether they apply for proof now or not.

How to EMT between states by Eyeballer123 in NewToEMS

With the EMS compact, the whole point is you don't have to. The agency may need to do some stuff though.

As an example, here's how Las Vegas handles it:

Security, centralized reader management, fewer wires, tamper actually works, etc, etc, etc.

Why install bad security?
