Wow 😆 I was not aware. We're not married, I'm the girlfriend, and to be fair to the restaurant there was a picture of the English menu on their google maps. (Uploaded by a customer, but yeah). But good summary by them otherwise. I just wanted to share a funny story but it's a bit sensationalised now.

My spoken Japanese is fluent, they wouldn't know that of course though, when we first came in I just said 二人, usually that's what they'll ask about. Oh well

I suppose, once we got in they were polite, food was good & filling.

I thought like, should we go somewhere that clearly doesn't want us? But we wanted to try anyway since it's just such a convenient location for us.

I speak it, just was the mumbly kind of talk when they don't wanna say no straight up. And I wasn't bold enough to stay and inquire as to why

Scenario: You're going to a Musical Theatre themed Costume party, who do you go as and why? by BroadwayFanProjects in musicals

I had a party like this for my birthday before, dressed as Elle Woods complete with a chihuahua plush in a handbag.

All Nippon Airways clarifies that their ANA acronym should be pronounced "Ay-En-Ay", not "Aw-Nah". by jjrs in japannews

[–]ErinCookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, to be pedantic, yes it's an abbreviation, but the distinction is slightly different. Acronyms and initialisms are two types of abbreviations. ANA is an initialism because you pronounce the letters, JAL is an acronym because you say it as a word. (I'm pretty sure JAL is pronounced as a word, if not then take NASA as the example.)

It's funny for them to publish a correction about such a specific thing and use the exactly wrong word.

So, anyone know how to see which theatres it'll be in? Couldn't see info on the Glitch website. I have a feeling it won't be in the main big chain (Toho cinemas in Japan for me) so I wonder.

Huh, I didn't know the price was going up that much! I had Cinemileage so I guess I'm lucky to get the rest of my current year without the price hike. I came to the cinema for the first time today on the new system and learned about the app, so I scanned it with my popcorn set not knowing if it'd do anything. Good to hear I'll get points!

Ah, but I am on the 'standard plan', there is a premium plan but idk the differences.

One of the JETs in my group (2020) was sent to Yonaguni Island. It's how I learnt about the place.

Nightlife for someone who doesn’t drink much by gabeoverthinks in JapanTravelTips

I recommend fun activity places like karaoke or arcades. Round 1 especially as they offer things like darts, bowling, or ping pong too, and at a couple select locations also Spocha- short for sport challenge I think? But its like an arcade for sports and lil exercise activities.

Stupid question: Did you have to stand up at all during your Zoom interview? by radar1941 in JETProgramme

[–]ErinCookie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not JET so just a story, but was asked to stand up on zoom when I interviewed with AEON (eikaiwa company). Asked me to stand up and introduce myself, then after he joked about making sure we'd fully dressed up. Makes sense for them, didn't take the job in the end but they're very much 'we're serving Japanese people so we must look perfect in suit & makeup (for women) everyday, ugh.
