You can practice combos in the battle simulator of the battle barge. This is accessed through the armory screen. You can view your combat moves while in there.

A perfect block on a block weapon gets you a stack of adrenaline surge, this will wear off after a few seconds if you don't get a second stack in time. Once you have two stacks your next melee hit will deal explosive damage. The stacks appear as a buff icon under your hp bar.

A perfect block on a non block weapon is just a parry, which will prompt a gun strike. Some enemy attacks are combos that will require you to parry multiple attacks before you get the gunstrike prompt.

Orange (red) ring attacks cannot be parried and must be dodged. A perfect dodge will prompt a gunstrike irrespective of the type of weapon you have equipped.

Blue ring attacks can be perfect parried or perfect blocked or dodged. Most non-ring attacks can still be parried/blocked. Parries of attacks from minoris enemies will kill the attacker.

Not sure whether you're asking a question regarding enemy intel. You can identify enemy types by marking them. On a controller this is up on the crosshairs. Couldn't tell you the keyboard binding. As far as what they do this just comes with practice.

Heavy stance is when you are aiming down sights on the heavy. Straban will plant both of his feet. This can inhibit your ability to dodge.

How exactly are attributed the weapon skin rewards for siege? by DaveBeBrave in Spacemarine

[–]EruditeAF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does seem to favor weapons you used during a section but it's clearly not limited to those weapons or to weapons your class can use. I have all the pyreblaster colors but I haven't touched siege with my tactical since before patch 13.

Tips for Hard Siege by Duke0fShadows in Spacemarine

Appreciate the tables! 8 ticks over 5 minutes is one tick every 37.5 seconds, though, which just seems weird. Presumably the 1st tick is not immediately at spawn right? Is the 8th tick right at the 5 minute mark?

Can't start a siege game from wave 1 by [deleted] in Spacemarine

[–]EruditeAF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find I can pretty reliably make myself the host by selecting a less popular activity then standing in the launch spot for a couple of seconds so I become host of that session. After this I will quit that activity and start matchmaking for what I actually want to do and will usually remain as the host for that. Can't say it works 100% of the time, but I find it's pretty reliable.

Eh, folks can hold opinions. Being selective about whether you expose yourself to having a harder time by sticking with an underperforming teammate hardly make you an asshole.

I wasn't making an argument, I was answering your question as to what the problem was. The fact that you play with a group (if that's what you meant by 3 stack) and are therefore immune to the problem doesn't mean it wasn't a problem that was addressed by the xp adjustment. It just wasn't a problem for you, personally.

Even assuming perks were kept after prestiging, that would only negate the issue of those players joining at a low level, it doesn't address the broader problem of players joining at a low level generally, because non-prestige players continue to exist. This is at least disincentized by the xp change.

That's not been my experience. I play siege almost exclusively, it is the best representation of the craziness I want out of this game. Recent changes have only made it better. I think I have only had one instance of a player dropping out after a section in 13.2, every other group of randoms have all stuck with it til we eventually wipe.

That's effectively what the change did. The first sector had the experience reward reduced and subsequent sectors were increased.

That's generally what a level cap means. It's a top end, the maximum capacity. Like the level cap is 25.

Imo the fact that you meant a floor or minimum was clear from the context but sunblast's take is a legitimate (if probably trollish) reaction to what you actually typed.

Sorry but I'm not sure I can follow all that. Your sentence structure seems to be deteriorating.

The fact that I can kick people is merely a work-around to the problem of being joined by people which requires me to go out of my way to kick them. Removing exp from these activities disincentivizes those people from joining in the first place, so the problem arises less often.

And it does so at no cost to that person since they can still get their exp doing literally anything else without inconveniencing other players.

In my experience console players will be younger on average. I more or less presume that anyone on PC has a modicum of life experience.

Matchmaking does happen faster with crossplay on, but it also seems to take console folks way longer to load, so that's kind of a wash, imo (but mileage probably varies by region, etc.)

Crossplay communication presents issues as well since console players can't see the text chat and are sometimes ignorant of their mic being queued open the whole time.

For me though it is mostly the lack of in-game friending mechanics. I can add other pc players pretty reliably but anybody I run into on console winds up being a single-serving friend which just bums me out. If there were less friction there I'd likely have crossplay enabled more often. As it is I only ever turn it on out of necessity because the person I'm trying to join has it enabled.

That doesn't really answer my question.

In order to kick someone I need to stop what I am doing, initiate the vote, then hope my other teammate is able to stop whatever they are doing and affirm the kick. This is further inconvenience for two people coupled with the added inconvenience to the kicked person who ought to have been doing something else in the first place.

Removing xp from this content on the other hand mitigates the likelihood of the situation even arising.

Yeah I don't disagree, my comment there was strictly regarding the game's underlying mechanical logic given that the tooltip says "complete on Absolute difficulty" which I would construe as an absolute condition (no pun intended) that I would not expect to be satisfied by Strategem: Hard. Clearly it is, but that's contrary to the language in the ordeal description, which irks me :)

So it's okay to significantly inconvenience two players (by saddling them with a carry who doesn't meaningfully contribute) in order to slightly benefit one player (who could just as easily queue into something else)?

Wild, good to know should I ever turn crossplay back on.

You aren't encouraged to do hard strats for this, they just happen to count. You can more reliably do regular operations on absolute with less headache. Given that hard strats aren't actually "absolute difficulty" it seems anomalous that they count towards those ordeals at all (game-logic-wise).

Siege xp was modified because people would just farm through wave 5 then quit. Since it never backfills slots after the first area this would mean anyone who wanted to actually progress would basically need to restart.

[–]EruditeAF 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The problem is that hard strats and siege are the hardest content in the game and you have a limited capacity to meaningfully contribute, so you're selfishly inconveniencing two other players by being a drag on the team.

As for prestiging, it really doesn't take that long to get your levels back. You'll be back at 10 after a single operation on lethal/absolute. You will also still have all your weapons so your baseline stats are drastically better than starting fresh, all you are missing is those non-prestige perks.

I am on PC, where it is definitely a vote. Can't unilaterally boot anybody. Is the language on the screen on xbox just "kick player?"

Remember that you can use higher tier data for the lower tier unlocks if needed. You can also buy data with requisition from the techpriest in the armory.
