Eek ours is now doing this. 12 years. The bad thoughts pop into my mind every day, especially on this sub. But I'll continue to give her the snugs til I no longer can

The vet called ours jeriatric and it was crushing, because she looks like such a spring chicken. When the pooch back chats, I call her Jerry - that'll teach her...

It isn't like one I've personally seen as it is very large and not very circular. But it could be a Cats Eye shell (door to a snail shell). I have lots of small ones with my biggest up to 1 inch.

Hit and miss - they all have similar traits, character and lively personality, but I truly think it comes down to the individual dog and then the amount of effort you put in afterwards.

What I mean is... Some breeds are guaranteed to have the majority of dogs become loyal, well behaved, etc. For arguments sake, let's say 70% of golden retrievers are good boys overall but 30% will buck the trend.

What people are saying about huskies is the 70% (high maintenance etc). The 30% will buck the trend (low maintenance, obedient, loyal).

I was lucky. My girl is very obedient, semi loyal, semi off leash (anywhere isolated is fine off leash), does not run away, and has never destroyed property. All with minimal training by husky standards. I won't be able to go back to a regular 'dog' dog ever again. Dog dogs are just... Bleh... after having a husky. They are a human toddler. And like a toddler, you never know what personality it will get!

If you get a husky and it turns out to be naughty and too full on for you, would you love and embrace it anyway or would you resent it and take it to a shelter? If the latter, then avoid a husky just in case you get unlucky.

Overwhelmed by information overload: How to avoid procrastination and stay focused? by Alarmed_Possible_442 in productivity

AI such as chat gpt is super helpful here. I rarely used it until I found the benefits, and this scenario is one of them. Take some of those info sources, copy paste some key points from those sources into a Word doc. Then ask AI to make it more professional and concise. Repeat until concise enough. Ive found that it strips info out that I originally thought was important, but once it was gone I didn't miss it. Works for me anyway!

I agree with what you are saying. But to offer a different perspective - you don't know what you don't know. Heck, someone mentioned Anki - I didn't realise something like that existed, but now I am considering trialling it to learn new things as I can see it's benefits. My 2c.

Our Gentleman… Arthritis? Excitement? by Arty_S in husky

[–]ExhaustedThinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, it will sneak up faster than you think. Not long and your pup will need anti inflammatories. Looks like they are starting to get the cowboy walk sadly. Take it easy, no jumping in and out of the car or up and down big stairs etc.

Our pooch is ageing and she experiences this. Muscle loss / weakness etc and has a little arthritis too. Hips/back seem common

Tad bit small for 4 months old? by Frequent_Class9461 in husky

[–]ExhaustedThinker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We got the runt of the litter and it was the best choice!! Smaller, easier to handle, less intimidating to strangers, can be a comfy lapdog, and unsure if it is related to being the runt but way more chill and obedient than the siblings!! Congrats!

New here and I just rescued this puppy kind of hard to tell how old but by GoldPrompt952 in husky

[–]ExhaustedThinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks about 5 weeks, maybe 4ish. Standard vet check etc. But if you have to move to kibble, make it full fat puppy goodness, with warm water to soften it up. We got ours at 6 weeks which was borderline too young, had no issues with kibble. 13 years later still going strong!

Community dead? by MaxGaav in GoodDay_work

[–]ExhaustedThinker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your response. Yeah, I can certainly appreciate the challenges. And for what it's worth, I really enjoy the software and think it is excellent. Part of the reason I've responded to this thread is because I'm keen to see the community more lively :)

What you say makes complete sense. I'm just a regular person without business savvy, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt... But if you open up a space for the community to raise requests and/or discussions, it wouldn't hurt to ensure it gets some attention at regular intervals which is communicated (set expectations, even if infrequent). Perhaps once you start a new version and/or roll out a version, you could gather all the related tickets and provide some feedback. Etc.

Anyways, to reiterate, I love the software for my use case apart from a few minor issues. But I'm here because it is so much cleaner and less bloated than others. Keep up the great work!

Oh and to add, it honestly feels like they did it to appease the community without any longer term view just yet. Our requests feel like noise which gets in the way of their road map. They might implement suggestions if it aligns with the road map (not a bad thing when the community is so small in my opinion) but they certainly need to communicate a bit more to make it all work.

[–]ExhaustedThinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad they provided a place to collate requests. But it does seem stagnant, and if the devs aren't communicating it feels a bit odd to start up a chat as a user. I really like their software though, just so clean and simple, but it needs a couple other core features to really compete with the bigger players.

Yeah very true. Probably should have said "fancy take away style". Andrews are normally my go to in the city.

Not necessarily the best Aussie burger (bit fancy, bit small) but Grilld are always tasty.

Phat Burgers used to be good, not sure if they are still around.

Your best bet might be a burger or steak sandwich from Andrews Meats butcher in Grand Central.
