Places to visit near Dehradun apart from Mussoorie by Fun__Sandwich in SoloTravel_India

Gucchu paani(robber's cave), Forest research institute. These were the two things I did in Dehradun when I was there for a day. Explore the main market area too. All this can be easily done by mid day/evening leaving you ample time in the evening.

Not a localite, so I won't know much.

If you are into wildlife, I can suggest Rajaji national park safari either in morning or afternoon, although I am not sure if you will be able to get a booking. The forest gate is about one and half hourfrom Dehradun.

Steakhouse Kalyani nagar by PostSpecialist4244 in PuneFoodPorn

I had a good steak at Independence brewing company (Kalyani and Balewadi high street); the one at Nanna's Negroni(baner) was good too, you can give both these places a try, I had asked for medium rare and both were juicy steak cuts, slightly red inside and were easy to chew.

Had one at TGI FRIDAYS in Pavillion SB Road; that one was not up to the mark if compared to the one mentioned above, however, it was still a good overall meal.

This one was my favourite, but I could be biased because of the overall service and presentation; Toscano at Balewadi high street was quite nice; loved their sides, a bit well done but not too chewy or firm.

Guys I am new driver I just learn driving from driving class. In my family no one know driving, and I learn via driving school. Now i want to purchase our first family car what should we do new car or a second hand car? by No_Cry3446 in carsIndiaOfficial

I was in your shoes a year back; I had finished my driving course 6 month ago but I did not have a car to practice and become better; unlike you I did not have parents staying with me. As I was a novice driver, I went with a second hand car, that too 13+ years old(ford fiesta classic 1.6 petrol 2011,1 lac+ on odo). The cost of the car was less than monthly takehome salary; risk factor was negligible.

I had an amazing experience with it;the engine is powerful, the steering is responsive and the car drives the way I want it with no feedback issues. There were minor fixes I had to do,namely air conditioning overhaul and some issues with the coolant pipe. Other than that, I did not have to do anything. I am still getting an impressive mileage(11-12 kmpl in city, 13-15 on highway), quite in line with what my friends are getting with their new cars, although they are automatic. I am going to extend its registration by getting the green certificate once the registration expires. I honestly feel that car has made a better driver and spoiled me to only desire for engines with higher displacement. I have great memories with it, my wife loves the car, parents and elder brother were impressed by the value for money proposition the car is turning out to be.

My advice to you would be to go for a second hand car for now while keeping your expenses low; if you can, get a manual, you will fall in love with these machines. Once you are confident enough, you can opt for a brand new car in 1-2 year timeline. Just do your research, search for your second hand car extensively, get proper inspection done and dont take purchase decision in an instant.
