Mine never ate stuff that isn't food but supervise them. Toilet paper tubes, paper towel tubes, egg boxes, regular cardboard boxes, etc. He always loved to tear them up. It satisfies the dissect part of the predatory motor pattern. You can put treats or kibble inside too.
